You know the old Nigerian scam email? The one that says someone has $XX million dollars and they need your assistance…
Well there have been literally hundreds of variations of it over the past decade, but the one I got today caught my attention…
Dear Mr Holmlund ,
I am Barrister Richard Martins, a legal practitioner, I was the personal attorney to my late Mr Mark Holmlund , whille he was still alive ,who used to work with Chevron Nigeria limited, here in Nigeria. On the 27th of January 2003,my client, his wife and their three children were involved in Ikeja bomb blast here in my country. My client and his family unfortunately lost their lives.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/2698081.stmSince then I have made several enquiries to the embassy to locate any of my clients extended relatives, this has also proved unsuccessful. After these several on successful attempts, I decided and do some research in the internet,to locate any member of his family. That is why I contacted you…
It got me thinking. If this scammer would just put the same effort into a legitimate business opportunity as he’s putting into his scam, he’d probably be making some legitimate money.
He’s already got some marketing skills, as demonstrated by his ability to personalize the email…
There pretty Cool to read hunh? I usually get around 5 or 6 emails each month like the one you discribed. Difference is that each one sent to me is changed around in wording just enough to make you wonder. I get them where a Plane crashed and all were killed, to Earthquakes, to Military Killings, and on and on and on! Anyways, you stated that the smart way that it was done, gave you an idea. So…What was the idea?

Maybe he got Ewen Chia’s “Big Book of Proof”… Maybe next time, they will be using bonuses like: if you believe me, you get this ebook for free! 😀 BUT WAIT! Oh my! Let’s just pray legitimate email marketers like us will not be associated with their works…

These things are obvious but they make you wonder don’t they? It might be
a better venture to seek out someone who has the website address to the
“broken english software”.
What is most important here is that these things are all geared to get you to
pay out fees to acquire the $$$MILLIONS. They are also obviously working
on some people or they wouldn’t be continued or worked on.
Nobody has mentioned that , and there are so many variations available that alot of the ones I get are from POOR Bank Owners who have discovered dormant accounts in their bank. Say it isn’t so ! What is most surprising about all of these things is that the authors submit their details , which include phone numbers and pictures. **SMILE** They want to submit you as next
of kin , heeee heeee.
These are not just being created by Nigerian’s ( or those who are posing as
Nigerian’s ) , they are coming from the UK as well. I have won the UK lottery in London so many times , I can spend the remainder of my life ensuring that
anybody I know , no longer has to work or want for anything , ever again.
That doesn’t even begin to take money from the fake money I have coming
to me from the Netherlands Lotteries & others.
I would venture a guess that the recent “Company Representatives” emails
are fringe benefit insurances to these bogus emails. You would think that these freaks would use the font setting in their email account once in a while so they all don’t look the same. Anybody can see that if they respond to these type of gogetter scams , the lawyers will send you an email in the same font and even the same style.
Aside from the obvious , do we wonder where these people got our email
addresses? That really doesn’t matter anyways but there is a software program I happened upon that was advertising that their software would be used to pick up email addresses , all over the internet , in classifieds , and
then program those email addresses into an autoresponding business opportunity. That’s spam at it’s best when you actually advertise that you would like others to join you in spamming for a living. Heee heee ha ha
ho ho.
There is one other unmentioned variable , the police sting. These could be
artistic variations of broken english practiced by authorities to test your willingness to be part of something bigger. These things have been used for
years to sting drug rings and sex offenders along with a myriad of other illegal
activities. For god’s sake , the very same tactics are even being used on the
streets in some places.
Ask yourself the question : Should I put this list of names and emails into my
autoresponder? The answer is : Not if you value it.
There are so many I am seriously considering putting up a website where
they can all be viewed and updated. To top off all of these nasty little bugs
and tiny inventions , there are the fake payment processors information update notifications. Some stupid Ebay customers are actually trying to do the same , even sending fake warnings and claims of unadvertised items and
sales. Among the stupidest was a guy who made a fake claim and included
his real Ebay account name and rating.
The underlying variable is that nobody cares and our entire society is , and
has been , spoofing each other all the way to the bank and it is merely being
repeated and modified. Be aware.
Besides the sky is falling so look out , wherever you are. BING,BANG,BONG,
PING.
I know who you are and I saw what you did.
OLD HAT IS NOT THE NAME OF THE WEBSITE WITH A FUTURE.
In fact , this whole mess of entirely false compilations of emails has even
been enlisting famous actors and musicians like : John Mellencamp , Nicholas
Cage and Angelina Jolie as people who endorse their solicitations. The world cup soccer was used and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight.
There should be a website developed to forward emails to , where a count can be kept and shown to anyone who wants to enquire. I volunteer for the
job if it pays well. Then anyone can check the validity of false emails with
the site to see that there will have been lots of others that match. Proceeds
to the website could be used to specifically target the information and have
an opportunity to report these occurrences to the authorities and the respective ISP’s through investigation.
When criminals respond : “Who are you? The Internet Police”?
I’LL SAY : “HELL YES !!!”
