Free Commissions Review (Tim Atkinson Clicksure Scam Exposed)

By | March 20, 2013

There are scammy and spammy products launched into the “make money online” niche all the time. I’ve given warnings and done various product reviews over the years, but there’s so much junk out there that I couldn’t cover it all if I wanted to.

I’m also not primarily in the business of being an Internet watchdog. It’s not really all that fun. So I tend to ignore most of the scams that land in my inbox, and try to stay focused on delivering value through my own business, and making money in ethical ways online.

Once in awhile something will really catch my attention or make me mad, and that’s the situation today.

The Prelaunch Hype

Over the past week or two, I received several “JV invitations” for a product launch called Free Commissions. I get those kind of invitations all the time, and it basically just means that someone wants me to promote their product as an affiliate. Some of those invitations came from Clicksure (the payment processor), from a JV broker, and from a 2nd-tier affiliate.

According to one of the invitations, the launch is being conducted by Tim Atkinson and Zak Meftah. The JV invite page contained a video of Tim Atkinson, and was signed at the bottom by “Tim Alexander”.

I’d give you a link to the page, but frankly it’s an embarrassment to the Internet marketing community (although it is sadly typical). There is no mention of the product itself or the value that will be provided to customers. It’s only about how much money they made on their last launch (over a million), and how they’re going to make more this time. There are affiliate prizes including a BMW.

Before I continue, I’ll give the first of a few disclaimers that I’ll offer throughout this review (to add perspective, and hopefully avoid being called a hypocrite). I’m not against product launches. They are a big part of my own business model, and I also teach how to do them. I’m also a fan of affiliate contests. I’ve participated in many of them, and held plenty of my own.

What I’m NOT a fan of is when marketers utterly disregard their customers, and that’s the feeling I got from this launch before it even started.

The Emails

In spite of the above hype, I really didn’t give this launch a second thought. After all, I’ve seen it all before.

Then the emails started hitting my inbox. Again nothing new, but what caught me by surprise was two things…

– The number of people promoting it, including some that I’ve associated with in the past.
– The outrageous lies contained in the emails.

OK, time for my next disclaimer. I’m an email marketer too, and I’ve pushed the envelope with my marketing at times. But I ALWAYS make sure I can substantiate the things that I write.

Unlike many of the emails I saw for Free Commissions…

“I just saw this sick video on YouTube and it’s received already 1,539,922 views in the last 5 days.”

Really? That’s funny since it’s not on Youtube, and the sales page just went up today.

“This video was shared 189,294 times on Facebook.”

Really… the moment it was launched?

“Good news! Your application has been accepted! Please review the details of the position here:”

What application, and which position was that? LOL

“Your Payment has been approved. Set Up Your Payment Information Here”

Uh huh. I could go an and on with the variations of fake payment notifications, and I’m not even going to bother getting into all the ridiculous income claims.

The Sales Page

After receiving this barrage of emails, of course I clicked one of them to check it out for myself.

www.freecommissions.com (NOT an affiliate link)

Here we have a typical scammy sales video complete with the so-called zillionaire, the cars, the yacht, the girls, the clearly fake testimonial videos, the bank account screen shots.

But here’s what really made my blood boil. The guy, Tim Alexander, goes on and on about all the fakes and scammers. He even goes so far as to say that he’s NOT an actor!

Of course the fine print at the bottom of the page says “In some cases actors have been used.” So I guess that makes it OK for the actor to say he’s not an actor!

The worst part was the ridiculous income claims. Folks, I’m not even going to waste my time, or yours, by quoting the outrageous claims made in the sales video. I’d be typing them up for the rest of the day. The gist of it is this…

You will make hundreds of thousands of dollars per month, with ZERO work.

This is the message that is given over and over and over again throughout the video.

Yet another disclaimer. I’ve got nothing against sales videos. In fact, I’ve been known to write very persuasive sales copy and create very persuasive sales videos. But there’s a huge difference between persuasive copy, and outright lies. These guys didn’t even use qualifiers in their script, such as “you could” (make money), or this has the “potential” (to make you rich).

They just flat out said you will make tons of money with zero work.

The price was $49…

But when I clicked to leave the page, I was given an exit splash page with a $20 discount. As I continued to attempt to leave the site, I encountered no less than FIVE exit pages.

The final one took me directly to the shopping cart, with an offer to buy Free Commissions for only $9. At that price, I figured it was worth it just for the entertainment of seeing what was behind the curtain…

The Payment

The payment was processed by ClickSure. From what I understand, their business was birthed as a result of the scammiest of products/vendors that got kicked out of ClickBank, who needed a new way to sell.

According to ClickSure’s website, they are based in China and Mauritius. Because of this, it seems to me that they are not afraid of the FTC, or anyone else who might come against them for making false claims.

Last time I purchased something through ClickSure, my credit card company’s fraud department called me within minutes to verify the transaction. That didn’t happen this time (yet), but I was certainly surprised to see this statement on the thank-you page AFTER I paid:

“ClickSure.com is an International Company and therefore due to fluctuated Currency Exchanged Rate, the actual amount that appears on your credit card statement will be slightly different from your order amount.”

Well that’s nice to know.

The Upsells

These guys truly redefined “upsell hell”.

Here’s my final disclaimer. I’m not against upsells. I do them and I teach them. I usually do an upsell and a downsell. On a couple of occasions I’ve used multiple upsells and downsells in a sales funnel, but I’ve always treated my customers with respect, and there’s always been an easy way out.

After making the initial purchase, I was presented with SEVEN additional offers prior to reaching the members area.

The first One Time Offer, which purported itself to be “streaming live” was $297. There was no way to bypass the video! I had to watch it until the price button appeared until I could decline. Worse than that, it was totally insulting. It included phrases like…

“Hit the “no” link and go back to your pathetic life of struggle”

and

“You’d be a complete moron to not take this offer right now”

Upon declining I was taken to the 2nd offer, which was the same thing for $197 (but called it a 50% discount). More ridiculous claims, such as….

“$110k a month. All you have to do is copy and paste a link. Literally all the work is done for you.”

From there I was taken to another $197 offer in which Tim Alexander (along with his very busty model friend) said,

“I want to give you my exact website that makes $238,793.14”.

And no, he doesn’t say it’s a copy or a replica of the site. It’s THE site, and he even says he is going to “transfer the site to you.” Again I had to watch this video before I could decline the offer.

From there, I was taken to another video, in which the busty model friend offered to give me the same website for only $97!

From there, I was taken to yet another offer which I was forced to endure before I could decline. This one was $175, and offered…

“Free commissions for life, without ever doing any work, without even lifting a finger.”

Yes that’s a quote, as are these:

“The only thing you have to figure out is how to spend the money. This is no hype, no gimmick.”

“All you need to know is that when you wake up in the morning you’ll see commissions like this, for life, for free. The money never turns off.” (While showing a screenshot of $68k/day commissions)

When I declined that offer, I was offered the same thing for $75. As we were obviously getting toward the end of this funnel, the insults continued to get worse:

“If you’re going to say no to this, do us both a favor and just quit. Go back to your pathetic life. You don’t have what it takes. Are you the loser that most people think you are?”

Apparently I don’t have what it takes, because I said no… and was taken to yet another offer! This one was for a $1 trial. I’m not sure of the total price, as I didn’t stick around to watch the full video.

The Product

The membership area is laid out in an organized fashion. Unfortunately, it seems to be organized in such a way that its primary objective is to get more money out of you.

Here’s a screen shot:

Free Commissions

Step #1 is to register for the member’s only webinar (Better hurry, there’s only 10 seats left). Nothing wrong with webinars, or selling via webinars for that matter, but most likely the objective in this case is to sell you something expensive. I made the mistake once of allowing someone to conduct such a webinar with my customers. I will not make that mistake again.

Step #2 is to schedule your strategy session via telephone. Hmmm, interesting that the signup form asks you how much money you have available to invest in your business training! A classic tactic, and a sure sign that they’re going to be selling you some expensive coaching. (The more credit you have available on your card, the more it’ll cost).

Step #3 is to claim your “free website”, which is actually just a video that leads to a web hosting affiliate link. The strategy itself is not a bad one. I’ve got no problem with offering incentives for web hosting referrals. But I wouldn’t exactly consider this to be something worth paying for. If it were my member’s area, I’d call it an “unadvertised bonus”, as I often do with such offers.

Beyond those three steps, most of the members area consists of advertisements. So where’s the product?

There is a web-based squeeze page builder, and a couple of plugins and videos. Those tools and information are OK, but certainly do not even begin to fulfill the claims made in the sales video.

I didn’t find ANYTHING that required zero work. For example, the squeeze page builder has templates, but you still have to write your own copy. Even if it DID do all the work for you, I don’t see any possibility of making the volume of “hands free” income that the sales video promises.

They do deliver something. I would even go so far as to say it’s “possible” to make money with these tools. Squeeze pages are a great component of a permission-based marketing model. I use them all the time, and I make money with them. But that doesn’t even BEGIN to justify the marketing.

I call this a scam. I’m very sensitive about using that word, because it is often not justified by those who use it. I’ve been called a scammer simply for being in the business of teaching others how to make money, and it never feels good.

Often what we’ll see in this industry are hyped up sales pages and products that do not meet all the expectations of those who buy them. That does not necessarily make something a scam.

In this case, the blatant lies, combined with utter disregard for the customer’s experience leads me to label it as an actual scam.

The Bottom Line

Watch out for this one, and others like it. I’ve been warning about these kind of scammy products for years, and we’ll be seeing them for years to come. They will always find another payment processor, etc.

I was really disappointed to see so many well-known marketers promoting this scam. Most of them are not scammers themselves, but in this case are guilty of blindly promoting something without checking it out first.

I thought about publishing their names here (there’s over 30 of them listed on the JV page alone), but I don’t want to muddy the waters and turn this into a hate-fest. Some of them have promoted my products in the past, and/or I’ve promoted theirs. These are guys with huge influence… the combined power to contact millions of people almost instantly. That’s partly why I felt it was important to call out this scam; since I know many of my readers are on those lists.

I do expect some flak from this review, and there will obviously be some fallout from former JV partners when it comes time for me to launch my next product (which is soon).

If you were someone who promoted Free Commissions, I’m asking you to do something brave. Send an email out to your list and retract your endorsement. I’ve avoided naming names (you know who you are), so just do the honorable thing and renounce this scam.

Like I said at the beginning of this review, these kind of things are not fun to write. I do not intend to make a habit of it. But I just couldn’t stay silent on this one today.

As always, you are welcome to post your questions and comments below 🙂

Have a great day!

I also send an email to Clicksure to get a refund, and they responded back asking me for the details of the transaction although that was in the email I sent already. After replying to that, they didn’t respond anymore (not did they issue the refund).
Today I called them and the cancellation of my purchase was done immediately without any problems or hassels. Therefore I recommend calling them to get it resolved and don’t get any excuses or stupid suggestions like some of you did!

    update to my previous post:
I got the refund within minutes after my phone call to Clicksure!

I don’t understand how somebody can sell such crab with a money back guarantee – how do they make money? I can’t believe anybody is happy with this product and doesn’t go for a refund once he finds out that what he’s gotten is nowhere near what is promised in the videos.
    This just doesn’t make sense?!

FreeCommission is a TOTAL SCAM……BEWARE. I purchased the first and second level of their program more out of curiousity of their elaborate claims. I used a credit card that I knew I could dispute if things went wrong. As it did. The site they offer is nothing more that a rebranding of some other IM offerings. Currently, CLICKSURE support has said they are refunding my purchases, but after two weeks they have not. I am planning to dispute the charges tomorrow. BTW- the charges were several dollars higher than the listed price (as noted on the review above). My advice……Move Along Nothing to See There.

Hi Eric, I have a great deal of respect for you and I appreciate you for exposing this scammer. Please can you take a look at the following and give a review on it: http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-forum-classified-ads/773060-new-social-media-platform-15-billion-ipo-80-profit-autoresponders-webinars-video-emails.html

I was very interested, I have heard it costs about $3500 to sign up and I have seen some highly respected marketers joining the scheme. After delving deeper I started to see several things that put me off. I have never been a fan of MLM or pyramid selling as I see them as unethical and downright criminal. Please can you turn your investigative eye on this offer and let us know if this is just another scam.

    Thanks

Just from looking at the ad, this is absolutely not something I would get involved in. It’s highly speculative. They’re saying for $3500 you get 500,000 “points” which will be worth $100,000 when they IPO in 2017.

There are great opportunities to make highly risky investments in startup companies. Look at early investors in Facebook or some of the successful social sites that got bought up. Those early investors multiplied their investment and got rich.

But this is NOT how it’s done. Those startup companies are not raising capital by putting up sleazy ads on forums. Also, you would generally need a bigger investment (like $50-100k minimum) to invest in these kind of startups. Also, that means you should have a net worth of at least $1M to risk that kind of capital.

When it comes to social platforms on the internet, things move very fast, and 2017 is a LONG ways away. I think the guy who posted the ad seems fairly sincere and probably has good intentions. But the way this thing is being marketed in borderline ponzi scheme in my opinion.

I do appreciate your Christian stand as I too am a Christian and have been very impressed with everything you have sent me over the last several years. I was trying to build an online business while I was still working at a regular J O B.
It has been a struggle since we homeschooled our kids and now I am homeschooling myself on the computer. The Lord has continued to bless us although our sites are not up to snuff at getting the data we need.

There’s an easy way to spot a scam: keep clicking away from the site and if it gets aggressive (like this one did, big time), it indeed is, and you get to see all the prices. U can always go back to the site if you still want to buy.

Binary options trading is just another scam and as with all scams there is a chance that you can make money from it. The companies that offer Binary trading are all based offshore and are unregulated here in the US. The US have been trying to regulate the industry and as of yet have not done it. Binary options could be a money maker but you need to wait until it is regulated here in the US and if you don’t and you have any kind of a claim against the Binary company, good luck winning due to the unregulated nature and as they are located offshore which should tell you something right there. There are a couple of big companies that say they are here in the US and it is true to a degree in that it is only a satellite office and the corporate headquarters is still located offshore. Buyer beware!!!

Before I got into IM the word mentor meant that someone was there to help you succeed in the field they were an expert in. Now after being in IM the word mentor now means absolutely nothing as the mentors in Internet Marketing are only there for the extreme profit they earn and that’s it. I’m going to admit there are some good one’s out there but becoming rarer everyday. A mentor in IM is usually so busy selling their own product or acting as an affiliate for someone else’s product that they can’t possibly have enough time to truly help there own list of people that just want to learn how to make a buck. I truly thought one of the good guys in internet marketing was Russel Brunson and he is involved in the launch of Pure Leverage with Joel Therein with GVO hosting. For the affiliates there was a contest and the winner of the contest was to receive a Ferrari, and Russell wanted to win so bad that he held webinar after webinar practically begging his list to spend more and more money just so he could win this Ferrari, how self serving is that to ask your list to spend money for which many of them probably could not even afford. He went so far as to offer a bonus to everybody that bought into it, could come to his office for free training and if he won the Ferrari he would let those that attended could be fortunate enough to go for a ride in it. But the bonus offer to come to his office and the ride was only good if he won the contest for the Ferrari, now obviously I understand if he didn’t win the car then he would not be able to fulfill the offer for the ride. But to take away the offer for the free training if he didn’t win after his list already spent the money for the offer he was pushing was the last straw for me and I have taken my name off of his list, and now he is involved with Anthony Morrison on another launch. I know none of this is really related to the topic here, but it just saddens me to see smart people going scamming and taking advantage of hard working people just for their own gain. The word Mentor in Internet Marketing means absolutely nothing other then self gain. I for one never want to become a Mentor. It is too bad that money and the power that it brings can turn what you think is an honest person into the people that are discussed here in this blog. If a big name is going to promote someone’s product then at least have the decency and self respect to look the product over and if it isn’t up to standards then don’t promote it. Bring some truth and dignity back to IM. I want to end this by thanking Eric for this review and having the balls to not care what those mentioned are going to say or think about you, in my book you are so far better a person for what you have spoken about here, I hope you will continue to review others products and even affiliations regardless of who they are, and reveal the product for what it truly is. Thanks

I later realized there were actually marketers of these kind do exist! I do believe in Karma so I ask for guidance from my Creator to make me do to others what I want for myself, hence, The Golden Rule. Universe has enough supply for everyone.

It absolutely is at peace learning and working with ethical, successful people. I also believe in The Law of Attraction.

Thanks for the heads up and honesty, Eric! Actually from what I see from the video sales page, not just the actors acting were crap lol especially the woman telling “you’re a god” lol :D.

Been in IM for years, Free Comissions are no different than old-time Clickbank scammy “push button system software”. Where they’ll claim “click, copy, paste, money flowing in with zero work”. Only now it re-appears in different face and format. I’m sure Mother Karma will smack that bad guy one day 😉

I have to say that this review is more telling of the whole industry rather than an expose.

In reading Eric’s review I am reminded of my old Ganny, who used to say; “When people point the accusing finger, they should be aware that 3 of their fingers are pointing back at them”.

I too sell affiliate offers, and honestly believe the whole IM industry is a scam in varying degrees in one way or another, and preys on human weaknesses and frailties.

I agree this example is most definitely at the extreme end of the scam dial, but I personally would not have had the courage to shine a search light on it.

I would be afraid of being accused of being ‘Holier Than Thou” and simply trying to justify my own ‘Push Button’ less aggressive scams.

Besides, I would be haunted by the spirit of my dear old Granny, God bless her sole.

Avarice, greed, laziness and hope are just some of the psychological buttons we all push as marketers. But the only real difference between Eric’s extreme example and us the more typical marketer is…

We are willing to simply use psycho babble to evoke human weaknesses and pick pockets, whereas they have no conscience and are willing to squeeze ALL the life and hope out of the prospect.

It’s a very fine line we walk as internet marketers, but we should never try to justify or fool ourselves we are of any use to society at all…

Especially when you consider less than 2% of the people who buy these info products ever make any money.

Our only redemption and to relieve our conscience, is to Donate to Charity a good proportion of what we make from what we do, which to his credit, is exactly what Eric and his family does.

That way we can all sleep at night knowing at least someone is benefiting from our dubious efforts.

This post will likely never see the light of day, because the truth is a hard pill to swallow.

      Leo,

You’re a good man and I’m sure you sleep well at night. Thanks for being so honest and for backing Eric in his review. I know it’s a hard thing to tell the truth about some of your “peers”, but when lies are being told and money taken without conscience a line has to be drawn. I truly appreciate your candor and with you well.

Yes, sadly, I am in the process of trying to get a refund from Morrison, too. And the reason why is that when I joined Empower Network (I have since quit) the upline promoted one of these commission Junctions that got me on a huge list of scammers, and of course I was thinking I had to invest money to make money so I got suckered in to it.Bullying peeps into front loading purchases so the upline can make money is painful and unethical. So while I go through the pain of trying to get the refund (work!) I will concentrate on creating my own books giving people who buy some VALUE, and they won’t be about how to make money online…Thanks Eric for your honestly with this post, wish I had read it before, but as said before, lesson learned. Makes me want to read more of your articles as you seem to try to be fair. Kudos!

I have been following Eric for almost 4 years now and exposing this scam took a lot of coconuts for lack of a better term;-).Eric is straight up as far as I have seen and has a sense of value as far as his readers go.I would say about 90% of the products that he has endorsed I have looked into and bought probably 50% of the time as my finances allow.I am in and out of this website all of the time as there are times I forget things and I know I can find it here.OK gotta stop for now Just wanted to let you know that Erics marketing is head and shoulders above the majority that I have seen online.Keep up the great work Eric.
PS.I attached a safteypin to this reply 😉

Eric, I have created this MLM or Network Marketing Program, this is not like the rest of the programs out their, my program is called Triple 7 Marketing you can google it, I named the program that because you have 7 levels 7 products, you only need 7 people. total cost is $21.00 and that is divided into 7 people that is on a list on my order website check it out, this program is 100% legal, this program is not about the products it is all about the money. thanks

I have been a victim of internet scams in the past and like many people I have become very pessimistic about internet work at home schemes. I now go directly to internet reviews on websites and individuals promoting these products. Click sure.com was using an actress recognized from another work from home site in their latest video.

This is silly a lot of people who responded to this comment by Eric, did not actually tried it for themselves the ones who tried it back out the moment they saw what Eric wrote. As I read it i didn’t actually see the part when “Eric” purchased and tried this product for a while not a day or two. Who is to say this is not just his way of getting you guys on his side. I find that most of you are to gullible and naive!

    Hi Eric,

I`ve been receive the same link! After watching the video I´ve been sign up for the newsletter to figure out, what´s behind this business model. Since that time I receive emails from Whane Dryer in Florida and a bunch others ( I´ve never sign in for, they sold my email adress) whis links for empower network, Anthony Morrison, empire network and much more. The latest link from Whane Dryer was: http://www.cashmaschine.com.
I was watch the video(was a great actor and a great entertaiment video) for arount 45 minutes, then also my blood was boil, because this guy dont find a end and was klick the buy bottom, to see, what´s the price for it. The billing form was fron Digital River an the price also $47. I don´t fill it out, I was klick it away. But now chance to come out. 5 times they show me a lower price, at least they wat give it me for free. So I was click the free bottom. A webinar was open, the speaker was a chinese guy from Manchester UK how offer a software for mobile phone websites whis the price $ 889 and the salespage from where we have to buy. I´ve been notice the salespage and turn of my computer- that was the only chance to come out of this page. After I was went to You Tube and typeed in this sales page in the you tube browser. And lock at there, there was a big warning from a dutch woman in the dutch language (I understand a bit of one dozen) , that it is a big bullshit. She was purchase, the software was not working, she dont get the money back and the customer support in the Uk was´nt answer by email and also dont get at the phone. Yesterday I was receive the same link again from a guy mame Aaron Ward. He was offer my in his video 5 free websites. I didn´t push the botton again. I was sure, when I doe it, they will purchase me a redicoulous high price for the set up.
“Nepper, Schlepper, Bauernfänger” is the Name we use in Germany for these gangsters.
Now I colect these mails in a file and I will figure out, from witch provider they come from.
So we have a chance to stop them! What they doing, is cheating! Mafia!
Probably they opererate internatinal, so it´s difficult to get them. Once in the while these gangsters doe a mistake and they walk into the trap- became his chance drive into the jail or drive up to the heel. Whatever.

Sorry about my grammer mistakes!English isn´t my first language, I am German and I never went to school for learning real. I was learn english by picking up the words from the american and english peoples mouth and by reading the newspapers.

    Best Regards

    Christine

God Bless you Eric, Marketeers like you and your good friend Chris Carpenter are very much a blessing to newbies like me. Unfortunately I’ve already loss thousands of $ and converted to MYR is a huge amount, being a minority race in Malaysia at 57yrs is practically hopeless trying anything else. Your honesty gives me the courage to continue trying. I’ve purchased your Hot Niche Firesale Premium Upgrade recommended by Chris and I’m going to fully sturdy it before I make another move. In the mean time I’m gonna earnestly follow yours and Chris’s Blogs to learn even more.
Thanks and May the good Lord Bless you and your family in every way.

    Still hanging on

Thank you for the info about Empower Network. I just signed up about a couple of months ago and all they want is big money or you are not going to make it. As they say you are a WUUSIE if you don’t put up the money!
