Illuminate Christian Marketing Conference

By | September 10, 2008

Once again, I have to apologize for the delay in getting the lessons done. I’ve been very busy lately outside of my Internet marketing life, which is why I haven’t had a chance to post any new lessons in the past week.

I don’t feel the need to share everything I’ve got going on, but just to give you a taste…

I’m executive producing a CD and have been spending quite a bit of time in the recording studio. Also been busy with family stuff. A couple nights ago during the middle of our oldest daughter’s birthday party, our son fell and broke his arm. Those of you who are parents know how it hurts to see your kids get hurt.

Earlier this summer he broke his other arm, so now that he’s broken both of them I trust that he can live the rest of his life without needing to break any more!

So again sorry for the delay of the lessons, but rest assured I have NOT given up on the project. I will be finishing the series and posting each lesson as they are completed… I’ve just come to the realization that it will have to be at my own pace.

OK, so today I need to let you know about something cool.

Next month (October 10th-12th) the first ever Christian Internet Marketing seminar is going to happen!

(I know I have readers of many different faiths, so if this doesn’t apply to you, don’t get offended and just don’t worry about it.)

I think this is very exciting, because it’s something that the industry has needed for a long time. I’ve gone to several Internet marketing seminars over the past few years, and it seems like at every one of them someone says… “hey they should do something like this specifically for Christian marketers…”

But up until now it had been all talk, and nobody had taken the initiative to make it happen.

Now a young man by the name of Alejandro Reyes is making it happen. If you’re not familiar with Alejandro, he’s an up and coming marketing star who is becoming well known in the affiliate world, and made over $100k in his first year online.

He’s put together a fantastic lineup of teachers for the seminar, and it’s going to be a great event. The list of speakers includes Joel Comm, Jermaine Griggs, Jeff Mills, Paul Counts, Gary Zelesky, John Di Lemme, Ruddy Ortiz, Wade Tonkin, Jason Marshall, Sanyika Calloway, Monikah Ogando, and Eric Farewell… plus plenty of VIP’s in attendence.

PLUS… I’ll be there šŸ™‚

I want to support this event, and I think there will be some great networking opportunities, so I’m planning of being there along with my wife.

When it comes to doing business, it’s great to be able to network and do joint ventures with “like minded” people.

Now don’t get the wrong idea…

Just because this is a “Christian” event, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a church service or something. It’s going to be packed full of REAL money making strategies to improve your business and your life.

Alejandro and the other teachers are truly passionate about helping you find success, and I think this is going to be a wonderful environment for you to learn in.

So it’s going to be a great event, but here’s where it gets even better…

It’s DIRT CHEAP!

I don’t think you will find a more affordable Internet marketing seminar of this caliber anywhere on the planet. So if you’ve been wanting to go to a seminar, but finances were holding you back, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Just to give you some comparison…

One seminar that I’ve attended in the past a couple times is the Underground Seminar. I typically pay about $2,000 for my ticket to that seminar PLUS Yanik always picks hotels that are in the $200-$350/per night range.

The price of the Illuminate Christian Marketing Conference is a crazy $197 (price goes up at the end of the month), and the hotel rooms are only $129.

I’m telling you, that’s as cheap as it gets.

I encourage you to take a closer look and reserve your spot at:

Click Here for Illuminate Christian Marketing Conference

After this, I will not be going to any more seminars this year, so this would be a great chance for us to meet and you can ask me any questions that you may have about Internet marketing.

I would love to see you there.

Have a great day!

    Hello Eric,
very sorry to hear about your son’s broken arm. Wishing him speedy recovery. Thank you for your e-mail to let us know of the delay in lessons. Please do not worry and take your time to be with your family, they take priority over everything.
Your other projects sound exciting, much success your way.
I think it’s simply amazing that you create those great lessons for anyone to join and learn. You’re most appreciated. I’m somewhat of a newbie and still in the have “no clue” stage, looking forward to the next sets of lessons to be “enlightened” šŸ™‚
Thank you, take very good care and God bless.

Hoping to join you there, Eric, as I’m in the process of beginning a new Christian education website. Do you know if there are any lists of folks seeking a roommate to share the conference with? Money’s quite tight for me at the moment since I’m between jobs and finalizing an adoption.

Hi Eric. Thanks for the lessons!!!I had to close my company of 5 years yesterday due to poor economy. My wife is being treated for lymphoma cancer and I had a massive heart attack and angio-plasti on 08/18/08 so needless to say any help is good help. Speedy recovery to your son and hope you have happy holidays!

    Eric,
You donā€™t need more pain then you already have.
Please donā€™t pay attention to the obnoxious emails, some people donā€™t understand the value of what are you doing, and if they donā€™t, we donā€™t need them. If Iā€™ll be you Iā€™ll delete them from my list.

Your lessons are full of value, practical advises and 100% applicable complete knowledge. I have learned a lot from your and I go with your pace because you need your pace to preserve the quality of these lessons, you are the one who need to be comfortable doing it.

Two years ago I attended 2 seminars full of gurus, it cost me minimum $3,000 each of them, and the knowledge was incomplete, when we put deep questions the response was that it is not enough time in 3 days, we have to buy a couching program (Cost ā€œonlyā€ $4,000) and they will take us to the hand and teach everything under the sun. Well, somebody ask what is included in that couching program, it was hilarious, he wasnā€™t able to give us a clear answer (nobody bought the couching program.) My take is if somebody can afford to spend $7,000 in 3 days, that person doesnā€™t need a couching program.

Personally Iā€™ll go with you, on your pace.
All the best for the little one and your entire family.

Thanks Mike. I don’t think it’s “Christian marketing” per se… It’s basically a bunch of Christians getting together to learn internet marketing. So no, it’s not a matter of teaching a different style of marketing, although I would assume it will omit some of the unethical stuff that some people teach.

Marketing doesn’t have a religious affiliation, but many people do. Would you be just as offended if I decided to promote a marketing seminar for Dentists, or Women, or for people of a certain ethnicity? (Such events do exist…)

I don’t think “this kind of thing” is what caused Christ’s anger in the temple. The organizers and promoters of this conference are not trying to take anyone’s focus away from God and put it on money, nor are they exploiting Christianity for the sake of making money…

I understand what you’re saying Nicky, but I think that’s really a narrow minded way of looking at it. I re-read what I wrote in the email and blog, and I don’t see anything that I said in a way that was condescending to those who do not share my faith.

You said “I also understand Christians take every opportunity to talk about and promote their faith”… but that’s not really true. If that were the case I’d be tacking Bible verses onto every lesson, and lacing everything with Christian undertones. This has never been a “Christian” blog or newsletter, and I have never portrayed it as being one. However, I’m openly a Christian, and I allude to that fact on my bio page, and within the very first lesson. So it’s simply a matter of who I am.

I guess some people to want to learn from me without allowing me to “be myself”…

    Hi Eric,
Iā€™ve sold a very successful weight loss product on ebay for a while now.
Iā€™m about to launch a website that will only sell that product. (a 1 page website specially directed for users of this product)
Since the mark up is not that great, what other revenue streams could i bring in to supplement the sales of the product? An ebook about weight loss might be contradictory to people taking the product.
On a separate note, i have a list of over 500 buyers from ebay who i would like to market my new site to. I have their email addresses – will any autoresponders allow me to add these addresses to them?
    Regards,
    Dan

I am not offended nor am I any more endeared to Eric by this conference. He has taken A LOT of his time to develop this site and gain peoples trust and provide value. If he monetizes by promoting a product here and there or a specialized conference-so be it. Live and let live. We should all be thanking Eric-and I see many here already have.

I’m so glad that someone finally decided it was time to do something like this.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it to the conference as being a broke newbie, I haven’t made the bucks needed to get there. Maybe next year. šŸ™‚
I definitely would have loved to have been there as I think that we need to bring integrity to this business. There are too many charlatans out here just looking to make a quick buck and go on to the next thing. No thought as to the value of the product they flog either from their own creation or as an affiliate from someone else.
Although marketing is nothing but drawing a make-believe world, I do feel that it doesn’t have to be so far-fetched that it simply leaves people jaded.
Good job in putting it together Eric.
    God bless you richly.

It is your blog! I do not care nor should anyone else care what associate you are promoting and or advertising for. If it is related to business, it should be “GO”. I have an autistic son and I marketed insurance resources concerning my site to this parents / autistic organizations. Marketing is marketing and if you belong to an association, why not market it (support it)?? This is your personal blog and your faith is an aspect of you. Never say sorry for smart marketing or what you believe in!

Thanks for not apologizing for this Eric. If you are a Christian and you want to promote a marketing event for Christians or if you want to promote Jazz er size for Jesus, that is your prerogative, after all this is a blog about your opinions and insights, a blog where you have never held back how you feel about something, why would that change now? I am amazed that people would get their feathers ruffled over something like this, after all it is something meant to help a certain group of people with a common interest learn something. I have a few rebuttals to some of the comments. Yes, religion can be divisive, but did you not read the letter about the conference? It did not say anything about learning marketing so you can destroy your non-christian competitors, this seems like a conference/seminar for people with a common bond/interest to learn marketing with integrity. Also, if you are going to bring up and post examples from the Bible, than please also interpret it correctly, Jesus chasing the money changers out of the temple is a terrible comparison and has nothing to do with this conversation. Jesus was chasing corrupt people who were making a mockery of God and the cheating people. He was not saying don’t incorporate your faith in your interests or when you are trying to make money. Again this seminar seems like something that wants to help people learn a skill and a trade, and incorporate their Christian values while doing it.
I applaud those organizing this seminar, it is low cost and it offers top notch internet marketers and networking opportunities. Hmmm, sounds like a gold old fashion internet marketing conference, except you don’t have to worry about being fleeced.
Eric please keep writing your real feelings about whatever you can think of. This is how I know I am getting the real deal and the true lowdown on internet marketing. I think it is great that there is a way for you to incorporate your faith into it. Blessings to you.

The Pope and the Evangelical Christian Church are two very different things. But being a devout Christ Follower you should already know that. Jesus encouraged us throughout Scripture to live a life that brings him glory in all areas, Marketing is no different. But being a devout Christ follower, you would already know that. Lastly, your Judgment caste towards Eric, is not biblical or the actions of a devout Christ follower, as God would only know the true intentions of ones heart, and it is his position to bring judgment, and I am sure you know that you are wrong on this being that you are a devout Christ follower. Lastly, if you have a problem with Eric, as a devout Christ follower you would know that the biblical way to handle your chastisement of Eric would be privately and not in a public forum.

Hi Eric, I just got your email saying that some people where offended by your promoting a Christian Marketing Conference. I primarily identify as being a Buddhist and I am *not* offended in the least that you shared something you thought would be valuable to some of your readers (presumable at least some of them are Christian). It saddens me that people feel a need to find any mention of religion as an affront. I wonder if they would be as offended if you advertised a marketing conference for Work at Home Moms which I am sure would be relevant to some of your readers.

My only hope is that the Christian Marketing Confrance encourges its attendees to make sure that their marketing strategies are aligned with the values of love, compassion and charity that Jesus taught about. Even more, that they find ways to use marketing to actively express these values

Let me see, wouldn’t Christianity be a niche?

    Never apologize for the Gospel.

I am not high on modern day church marketing efforts. I am more interested in allowing the Holy Spirit do the work.

It’s much better to lose subscribers than to apologize for one’s faith or to refrain from mentioning it.

Thanks for your tips…I pray those who were upset with you find Christ.

Now, this will really upset them, so you may not want to post it.

    Keep up the fine work.

I get so much marketing email that I often just send it to a marketing folder and end up never looking at it. However, I was cleverly lead into opening the “offensive” email.

I did a great deal of work on a start up that was a marketing training course for HBB people and it left me very jaded as I watched several people lose 10’s of thousands of dollars on marketing never to make it back!

Tread lightly brother, I trust that you’ll not intentionally promote something ONLY to make money for yourself, rather than help other people. This being said, internet marketing is a sham for high percentage of people.

I pray for wisdom and discernment for Christian marketers, and protection from pride, envy, and greed. In Jesus Name!!!

Eric: As an 82 year old “newbie” with a very long list of people I’ve met through the years, I want to go on record to congratulate you and thank you for the lessons you’ve been providing. Due to financial constraints it would be impossible top attend the conference, but in days past I’ve “sat through” many seminars as I gathered “CPE’s” to keep my Public Accouunting Credentials. I have had the pleasure of “one-on-one breakfast and other chats with the late Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. (Pastor of the Marble Collegiate Church in New York City and Author of several “self-help” books including the well known: POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING. I’ve had a career in on-the-air Radio and TV going back to 1948….during which I interviewed many well known “luminaries” of those days.

I’m just beginning my “on line” sales efforts…but was programming mainframe computers back in 1964. I wrote commercials for local radio station for two years before becoming a “personality”.

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK…..and thanks for all you do….

I am not clear what’s the disappointment about as long as nobody is excluded. This is my first week in this forum and also my first posting. I am a Christian and I wouldn’t feel offended if I am invited to a Jewish or Muslim or whatever religion marketing conference. Why not to be thankful for being included and considered?
I have now a pet sitting business but I used to be an International Public Affairs VP for people who became huge in this world to the point that the marketing I was applying to their policies allowed them not only to be considered the best in the world in their expertise but to make them believe they are God…. and I am a Christian. So I said to myself: after 20 years it’s time to quit because the marketing I am generating for the success of these people convictions got them to a point when the big ball became unmanageable. What I am trying to say is marketing is marketing but there is not “a one and only approach” when it comes to use the tools. Why not to go over the feeling and think that we could learn something new? Just wondering… Blessings, Laura

    Hi Eric,
Last time I checked, this was your blog and writing about a Christian Marketing event was simply writing about something close to you, like your son breaking his arm. Why are you not allowed to do that?

This population has gotten so twisted that we are now monitoring other people’s personal opinions! Freedom of expression, anyone?

What’s next? Is someone going to protest McLleland Press for using the word “Bible” in their book, Photoshop 6 Bible?

Must be the same group who go around calling others sexist while proudly wearing their “Hottie VP” campaign buttons!

“Wake up people!” as Jerry Jones would say. If you feel entitled to an opinion, then so do I! No need to disparage mine, just do as I do when your opinion comes up, I change the channel.

Eric, don’t even dream of apologising to these yahoos. If you do, please remove my name from your list right after that.

That’s my personal opinion, and I’m sticking to it!
    Mike.

    Greetings Eric.

Being in the ‘Antipodes’ is a long way to go to the UK. (But where I am originally from anyway)
OZ is my home now, and served proudly in the military here. And will defend the Flag I fought for, and shall not allow any fools change it. To many Australians (men and women) died for it.
Anyway, There is nothing incorrect about marketing by or for Christians. Christians have been marketing since ‘The Christ’ was able to rationalize. (See the marketing Bible, written by the ‘then’ sales people)(apostles) and every other faith has engaged in some form of marketing of their own to promote whatever they choose to believe.
And as for anyone being offended by anything – Taking offense is one of the 10 diseases of the mind. Make the mind strong my friends. That what is the parable of the 3 little pigs about.
Make your mind like it was made of brick. So that whoever chooses to huff-and-puff will never blow your house (aka: mind) down) If the mind is weak like straw then it will collapse.
These are not just childrens’ stories; in each one there is a message, you just need to take a closer look, and find the message. Open thine eyes and ye shall see!
And Kids. My wife wanted kids, but I said we were not going to keep goats. I said ‘children’ she could have but no goats/kids. So all you folks show your children some respect, and they will learn to respect others. Call them by a name given to a goat. Shame on you. Same as people who say ‘The Wife’ or ‘The Husband’ might as well say ‘The Dog’ (she) I will often refer to ‘My wife’ never ‘The wife’ Its just lack of respect for our loving partners. Where is the LOVE?

    Hi Eric,

I really like your lessons. Please keep them coming. Iā€™m really surprised by short sighted people who forget our countryā€™s roots in Christianity. Our founding fathers were Christians that sacrificed much when they stood up to the British Empire to give us our freedoms.

The Jeffersonian concept of separation of church and state isnā€™t a problem so long as people remember that the Constitution guaranties us Freedom of Religion instead of Freedom FROM Religion. Also, people need to remember the words ā€œSeparation of Church and Stateā€ are not found anywhere in the Constitution.

I think your idea of a Christian themed conference is fantastic. While we invite persons of all faiths to join us in faith, extremist around the world wish to murder us and their own people as an excuse to justify their faith.

I wish I could attend. I know there are a lot of people, including us, that will be saying a prayer for you and your family tonight plus wishing you great success with the conference.

God Bless to everyone of Faith.

I must say that if you are a Christian, and I am sure you are, these ugly comments are just what you expected. There is no way we as Christians can profess our identity without someone who doesn’t believe coming out of the woodwork like cockroaches. They’re everywhere! I am about to complete my new site. It will be http://www.inspirationwithmary.com. I know I will get shot – but never shot DOWN. Nor will you.Our Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills. There isn’t a guru out there, or a “newbie” who can compare their intelligence, their wealth, or their generosity as our Lord can. In comparison, their like ants in an ant hill.
