LESSON #11: Who Should You Listen To?

By | July 12, 2008

I’m glad that you’ve chosen to learn from me, but chances are good that you’ve noticed a lot of voices vying for your attention. There are a lot of so-called experts out there trying to tell you how to build your business.

The question is: WHO should you listen to and who should you trust?

(Watch this video…)

Join my coaching club

Main points:

1) Learn from real experts, not wannabe’s

2) Look for proof and testimonials (but don’t base your opinion solely on it)

3) Listen to someone you can understand

4) Listen to someone who has failed at times

5) Listen to someone who’s not afraid to tell you what you don’t want to hear

6) Don’t write someone off just because they’re trying to make money off of you (unless they are too manipulative)

7) Trust someone and follow them, but not blindly

8] Learn how to weigh the facts (this is the most important key)

Action steps:

1) Find someone to listen to.

Find someone who has done what you want to do. Someone who is a real expert and not a wannabe. Someone you can trust. That person might be me, or it might be someone else. The important thing is that you find someone you can trust, and then follow them with open eyes and a discerning heart.

We need to cover one final prerequisite before we develop the vision and plan for your online business. It’s sort of a missing piece, and I’ll be revealing it in the next lesson.
As always, you are welcome to post your questions and comments below.

Have a great day!

Basically you need to keep learning AND doing, until you’re successful. If by guru you mean “teacher” then I’ll take it as a compliment!

hi,Eric my humble Gratitude to you and your family every lesson of yours is worth fantastic what is the percentage of genuine online marketers and fraud marketers

  7. Eric Post author

Thank you. I do not know the percentage, but there’s a lot of both. I would imagine the genuine marketers far outweight the fraudsters, but the fraudsters tarnish the entire industry.

    Hi Eric

I’m following your lessons attentively. You know why? They are so logically organized and to the point that I bet you are really an experienced educator. Breaking down each task to steps; pointing out to the prerequisites ,goals and hazards of each; outlining work experience into an eligible material…Oh! and the videos, how neat they are! Not the broken type we often get online for free. I have not yet started my online business. Researching the opportunities I find your tips most informative. Thank you Eric and congratulations for your master work.

Today’s lesson was really an eye opener since I had failed big time in my first internet endeavor, I was told I wouln’t have to do anything, just wait for my checks to come in, which didn’t happen. I swallowed everything I was told, hook, line and sinker, so now will follow you step by step–thanks for all your great input Eric!

    Dear Eric,

It’s such a great blessing for me that I have stumbled on your site. I can’t recall anymore though how I came here. For more than a year, I’ve been looking for a mentor to follow. Your simplicity and sincerity appealed to me and I decided that I should follow you and learn from you. I know I won’t be lost with you. As the lessons progress, the more that I prove that to myself. And I firmly believe that what I just said is right!

I’m from the Philippines currently working in Saudi Arabia. I’d like to build an internet business that would provide income for my retirement.

From personal experience I can tell you that the majority of the Internet Marketers “guru” never quit give the whole pie.

I am going to stick with you untill the end of the video tutorial series.

Learn how to learn. That is a missing ingredient most people fail to realize. Why? Because they do not know how.
I have always said that learning to learn is the key of abundance.ie:”Give a fish to someone and he will eat for a day. Give him a fishing line and he will eat all his life”.The problem I have always had with this saying is,”Who is going to teach him how to fish?”
    Your observations are well taken.
    Thank you Eric

Eric The information you are giving is great I understand what you are saying. There are so many people who put up a web site and tell how well they are doing. They are actually misleading people and don’t understand they are. They think they are doing the right thing because someone else showed them. I had a guy who said he has been there with the big wigs such as Frank Kern, Mike Filsane and others said he made 1000 dollars a month He did not even have an auto responder or a submit form on his blog Said he didn’t use one and he had a list of contacts I looked at his site It was a social marketing site where everyone spams each other I agree find someone you can trust Learn from them and apply that knowledge

I just went there and it appears that you download an exe file. So you do not need to unzip it. Just double click it and follow the setup instructions.

#11, I am currently following 4 different tutorials by 4 different people, one being “Eric’s Tips” so I can understand a little of what this last lesson was about. I have been messing with online marketing for about 3 and a half years with little to show for it other than having a lot of money on “Things” that were unnecessary. It is a relatively new practice for those with experience to help in the positive way that Eric is doing, the other 3 mentors I am following are also giving good reliable information. The biggest thing I find is getting hold of a program, business opportunity that feels comfortable, something that is within your knowledge and capabilities, look very hard at so called opportunities that may show themselves very shallow with no real content. I still regard myself as a Newbie, self taught on the computer I have many bad habits and am now trying to eliminate them through programs such as Eric is teaching.

    http://www.affiliategameplan.com/?getpostdata=get&name=Mark Coulthard&email=markec@slingshot.co.nz&site=submit&ip=119.224.29.44&ref=000,
is a site like many of the rest make huge promises but you don’t get to find out all the details until you open your wallet,$77.00 in this case. Obviously some of these sites are genuine-ish and with everything going as taught there are probabilities to make money, but how can you actually tell without buying,I think Eric’s words of wisdom “Don’t buy things” is a very good piece of advice.
