Main points:
Without vision, your business probably won’t succeed.
I describe vision as being able to “see” a clear picture of your fulfilled goals in your mind.
It’s like the box cover of a difficult puzzle…
You must begin with the end in mind.
Almost every success in my life has come AFTER having a vision for it. (For example, when I won the state championship, and every time I launch a product)
The successful business owners that I’ve known ALL have vision.
It’s kind of like looking at the world from 30,000 feet. You see the big picture, and not the problems.
If you lose sight of your vision, you lose hope. And if you lose hope, it’s game over.
As we progress in the lessons, we’ll keep moving forward step by step, but if you don’t start by getting a vision, further efforts could be somewhat futile.
If you set your target too low, you may hit it, but there is almost no chance that you will exceed it. On the other hand, if you set your target too high, you may fail, but you will be further along than the “low” target. Therefore it’s better to set your vision higher.
One of the biggest things I see holding people back is a “victim mentality”.
“Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop this picture. Never think of yourself as failing; never doubt the reality of the mental image. That is most dangerous, for the mind always tries to complete what it pictures. So always picture ‘success’ no matter how badly things seem to be going at the moment.” – Norman Vincent Peale
Many of us have taken on a “just get by” mentality.
The size of your vision will dictate the size of the result.
YOU are valuable. Don’t sell yourself short.

I want you to take a moment to tell me your vision for your business. The vision can involve other areas of your life too, but since we’re working on building your business, it should be focused on your business.
It’s important to write your vision down, so go ahead and post it in the comments below. This is YOUR vision, and there is NO wrong answer.
Focus on the big picture. Don’t worry about the details of how you will get there. We’ll worry about that stuff when we learn about goal setting and business plans, and I’ll be talking about those things in the next lesson.

My vision is to start an internet business which markets information to educators, students, and parents in support of the education process from pre-school through high school, with initial focus on math and science curricula. Our vision (my wife and me) is to have an online business that generates $1,400 per week income for us; NLT 31 July 2012.
The business must be portable. By that I mean we can run the business from anywhere in the world. This gives us the freedom to go visit our children and grandchildren when we want; or for that matter go anywhere we want when we want.
My vision is to successfully extend my footprint on the Internet by developing sites that will help people invest in themselves. In its widest sense I will be discussing ways of becoming more self reliant and confident. My websites will look at ways to save money and also make money. These websites will generate a lot of satisfaction for me and my readers and will be an interesting and hugely profitable experience for us all. I have been writing a blog for 6 years now and through this experience I have learnt a lot more than I have taught.
I already have an income from my blog and I am going to increase the revenue from my blog 5 fold within the next year. Eric, I have stoped in this lesson for 2 weeks because you ask too much, I had not a clear picture of a vision. So I began to meditate about that because I don’t want to give up, it’s not a good payback to your efforts. So here goes my “impossible dream” that talks D.Quixote:
1- I dream about living in a community/ecovillage in a way of modify my lifestyle to be more green, more lovely, more sustainable to the earth and other people.
2- I dream be a financialy independent (from bosses and a regular job), and have money to pay all my dets and furfill my other dreams, giving information and products for natural healing and sustainable living, even after the collapse.

I subscribed to this list months ago, but I never started to watch it until after I started to think like a marketer, which happened after I took an industry-specific marketing course and another course that contained a marketing component. But I just realized that this afternoon before reading this lesson.
My vision is to earn enough money to support me comfortably (and then some) working part time, and provide for my and my family’s future. Regular vacations are a plus. I have been self-employed for years, some years better than others.
I have 3 websites that I have begun to apply marketing strategies on. I started my first list yesterday and have 46 subscribers already to send a follow-up to.
My programmer boyfriend has some products he is developing, but he wants nothing to do with marketing, and he doesn’t want me to do it for him. We will have to come to some sort of understanding on that if he wants his products to succeed.
My vision is to do very well in internet market to make enough money to pay all my bills off and to pay my tithes and offering and to help people that is in need and to always give God the Lord Jesus thanks for he gives me power to get wealth God Bless you all.

I am from a country of Great Geniouses and the Best IT Guru’s of the World. That is India. But you take Internet Marketting – there are no Guru’s, no knowledgeble people in the filed. Because it takes Hours and Hours of Web Minings and plenty failures even to reach where I am right now. Ie. On the right path at last ! That is right here listening to your lectures. Initially i would have just jumped at any one of those get – rich – by – a – day systems which are full of Scams. Or the so called On-line Surveys etc. which promose you a few couple of Dollars for real hard work, but ultimately either dont pay or disqualify you at the end of the Survey. So as you see my Vision is to be an International Guru, or at least the 1st Indian Guru who can teach like you to Millions of less fortunate people, these methods you so very well show us here. Yes, Surely I would like to make Millions too, in this Business, but more importantly to be the best in the fieled rather, for which i need to strive real hard now. Being the best in your fieled is better than being just only the richest or so. So my vision is to have a real multi- system and layered opportunities for all levels of people, in various fields of Internet marketting with a vast variety of products. Our BIG Vision is Financial Freedom.It is very hard to actually find someone that shows you the ropes , and I see Eric and his team telling us all the facts about getting there. I am very fascinated about the online marketing world , I have been doing offline marketing for 3 different Businesses that are not yet doing marketing online so I know there is opportunity here. The main reason we want to do this is because I know it will open more doors for me and my family all around, no more 9-5 jobs and more time to actually do what we like best, to help others more often in many areas. I want to assist my son and daughter with their partners and my grandchildren to have better lives and also want to give very generously to the Cancer Society and for animal care at the SPCA. They do such a great job, surviving merely on donations. As I haven’t had a holiday in over 12 years, I want to be able to travel the world, meet (my soul-mate)!!!, people from all walks of life and never have to think of where the next dollar is coming from.

I agree with the importance of a vision. I’ve worked with clients on their vision statements and I agree: it’s hard to succeed without one. But I think it has to be a vision about your business – fairly specific. Life visions are good (cabin in the woods, million in the bank, etc.) but they’re more about the “what.” The business vision focuses more on the “how.”
My vision is to escape the salaried job trap to work much fewer hours but make much more money and help even more people than I do now and to help my disabled sister and mother see hope themselves as well. I see that you have been a missionary to India, Israel, and Belize. That is one thing I would love to invest my money and time in. The Lord did have me work with the Campus Crusade for Christ playing drums traveling in their music ministry 13 years ago in the college days. I would love to do that again, but now I’m busy with three kids and one on the way. (So I definitely need money).
I love to write and finding work where I can write would be great. I found out GPT’s – like survey’s were garbage. I thought I was going to do alot of writing (like my opinion).
I’m trying to understand pay per blog and also understanding adsense. Freelance looks interesting, but I never really looked at it.
Because I write in a journal alot, I have a dream of writing my own book, like my memorior, or fiction, non-fiction. I have a blog about my mental disability that I want to write about.

I am retired from a senior corporate position & from owning & operating my own non on-line business in the past.
I see an internet business as a challenge for me that I am determined to master. I am interested in affiliate marketing and sales. Although a modest financial gain is certainly the near goal for me that is surpassed by the technical challenge. The long term goal is still on hold, but most certainly will include not to let myself down.
