LESSON #4: 18 Ways to Make Money Online

By | June 16, 2008

Thus far, I’ve given my definition of what an online business is, and I’ve given you what I feel are a few prerequisites to becoming a successful online business owner.

So now let’s get more detailed as we drill down closer to what you’ll actually be doing. A lot of people say they want to make money on the internet, but they really have no idea what that looks like in real life.

One of the problems is that there are literally thousands of ways to make money on the internet…

(Watch this video…)

Join my coaching club

Main points:

  • There are thousands of ways to make money online.

  • My way is NOT the only way.

  • Being able to follow a blueprint is great, but I also want you to be able to create your own blueprint when the lessons are over.

  • I want you to see the big picture so that you can look at my business model in the proper context.

  • Avoid the “bright shiny objects” and focus on one opportunity at a time.

Some ways to make money online include (see video for details):

  • 1) Ebay

  • 2) Info products/Digital products

  • 3) Physical products

  • 4) Affiliate marketing

  • 5) Work from home job

  • 6) AdSense or other contextual ads (Ok here’s one affiliate link… If you really want to learn all about AdSense I do recommend my friend Joel who is the foremost expert: AdSense Secrets)

  • 7) MLM

  • 8] Coaching/consulting

  • 9) Service site

  • 10) Web hosting – Here’s a free 114 page ebook I wrote about how to be a web hosting reseller.

  • 11) Membership site

  • 12) Social network/web 2.0 site – maybe you will start the next facebook?

  • 13) Freelancer – My favorite freelancer site (where I hire the most people from) is vWorker (formerly known as RentACoder). Another good one is Odesk

  • 14) Paid Blogger – here are some blog posts listing a bunch of paid blogging sites: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 (UPDATE: The link I mentioned in the video is no longer valid, but the links here should work)

  • 15) Domainer – my personal domain registration site is LifeDomains

  • 16) “GPT” sites

  • 17) Sports betting arbitrage

  • 18) Trading (Stocks, commodities, forex, etc) – If you decide that this is an opportunity you want to pursue, I highly recommend my Trading Pro System

  • (This is by no means an exhaustive list)

    Action steps:

Your action step today is optional. And it’s simple:

    1) look around and see how big the picture is, and how numerous the opportunities are.

If you want to look around and see what else is out there, now is the time… NOT when we’re on lesson #55 and you’re in the middle of following my online business blueprint. Because once we get started, I want you to commit to following through and finishing it, because if you don’t finish it you won’t succeed with it.

Now IF you do go out and research some of the opportunities I’ve just mentioned, remember what I said in Lesson #3… don’t buy stuff unless you know what you’re doing!

I know this goes against the grain of what most marketers would do in my situation. I should be reeling you in and hooking you on my own idea. But I don’t want to do that. I want you to understand the scope of opportunity out there, and then choose to follow my lessons because you WANT to. Not just because you feel like its your only option. And if you’re confident in your decision to follow my blueprint, you’ll be much more focused, and you’ll be more likely to stay the course.

As always, you are welcome to post your questions and comments below.

    Have a great day!

I am really interested in paid online survey jobs. But it seems there are no genuine sites on the net. Can somebody help me out?

There are actually several legitimate paid survey sites. However, I do not consider this is be a viable long term business model. It’s a way for some people to make a few extra dollars online, but it’s not really scalable. IMO, it would be better to invest your time into building a real business.

Thanks, Eric, for lesson #4. You certainly helped me make up my mind what I have to do to follow through on this course. I have already committed to a specific method (I’ve written it down!) and I hope we’ll gel in the next upcoming lessons! Also there’s so much “stuff” coming into my boxes daily that I get so so confused. Tonight I worked the delete key until it was smoking! Those magic four words _ “I don’t need it!” Looking forward to lesson #5.

I have a couple of comments on the lessons so far, why don´t you put the first three lessons together as one? Less than 10 minutes is not what I would call a lesson. Secondly, in lesson 4 you mentioned that many internet marketers have stuff made up in China and sell them for great profits, as anyone knows in the educated world the people of China murder baby girls, drowning them in a bucket of water like an unwanted kitten as soon as they are born. At the last census males outnumbered females by more than 14 MILLION!!! As far as I am concerned anyone that does business with China is equally as guilty of infanticide as the chinese so BOYCOTT CHINA. In the 70`s we boycotted South Africa for beating up and killing a few thousand africans and that boycott brought an end to apartied. So we can make a difference, plus if companies are forced to return to there own countries there wouldn´t be so many out of work!

      Hey ERIC!

      Great tutorial, like usual !

I actually mad the mistake of purchasing a myriad of products that I probably could do without, but, I will market them and also set up some website for my relatives providing support and management for them. I primarily will focus on some specific niches that I won’t mention, but I will definately utilize one of your products taht I purchased from you with “Master & ReSell Rights”, as a backend product & service.

      Keep On Keeping On !

My website is currently under construction, so, its still a blank page. Wish I had gotten your course two years ago! You haven’t caught up to where I am in my “education,” yet, but, you are getting close. I’ve already learned, the hard way, exactly what you’ve taught in the first 4 lessons. I know I can trust you by the fact that you are telling me what I really do already KNOW! For anyone reading this post, you ARE being given REAL AND VALUABLE INFORMATION. This is a real online education! stick with it and get your degree! Your “degree” here comes in the form of success! Thank you Eric.

      Hi Eric,

Been all over your lesson series and have commented on other tutorials, figured this one would be the mos logical.

Curious to hear your thoughts about joining CPA networks (ie- Azoogle, Flux Ads, Health Converter, etc). From what I hear they can be sticklers about who they allow to join their networks. Have you worked with CPA networks? If so is this true?

Granted this is a broad and loaded question, but I seems like it would be worth hearing your two cents.

      Thanks,
      Dave

      Hello Eric,

Thank you for all these helpful tips. I am newer than a “newbie”. I know absolutely nothing about the internet business and I’ve been trying to learn as much as possible. My husband, unfortunately, is in Afghanistan for a year leaving me behind with 4 little ones. So, I’m desperately needing an online business, so I can stay home to care for my young children. A month ago, I signed up and paid nearly $200 for a program that supposedly taught me how to be an “Auction Listing Agent”, posting links on eBay. It’s been the most hardest and most frustrating thing I have ever done. I’ve been trying to do this for a month now and I still haven’t been able to make a single penny. I haven’t even been able to get to “step 1” and they promised to “guide” me thru this and teach me every step. It hasn’t been that way. And I’m so extremely frustrated. I’m starting to look at other opportunities online. Or would you suggest I just stay with this? By the way, we are born again Christians too and admire greatly all the missions work you are doing. That’s wonderful. My husband is a Chaplain in the army. Anyway, I will continue to stay with you thru all your “tips” and I pray I can learn somehow to make some money. God bless you and family and thank you for all your emails. By the way, how do you benefit from teaching us all of this?

      Eric,

I am very desperate and need help!!!! First of all, a million thanks for your lessons. I just started your lessons and will be committed until the end. You are God sent to me!! I know absolutely nothing about online business, but I’m desperately needing to succeed in making some real money online. A month ago I bought Anthony Morrison’s “Home Job for Citizens” program. So far I’ve made no money. How do I research to find out if this is a scam? I just learned that “Home Jobs Placement” is a huge scam, which scares me about the program I bought a month ago. I want to be an expert “Auction Listing Agent” with eBay. Do your future lessons teach this? I’m so confused!

By the way, THANK GOD you’re a Christian!!!! I want to become an internet “guru” and I was praying for a Christian teacher in this area. I greatly admire all your mission trips. Unfortunately, my husband is a Chaplain in the Army and is in Afghanistan for a year and left me behind with 4 little ones. The main reason why I need to learn all about making money online!
God bless you and your beautiful family, Eric! I saw you’re pictures, awesome!

Sorry about your experiences… the very next lesson is about avoiding scams!

I do not teach ebay in these lessons, although as I mentioned in this lesson… I have made money from ebay… it IS a legitimate opportunity. I don’t think the “Auction Listing Agent” opportunity sounds too promising though. Ebay has made it very simple for people to list stuff for sale, and most people will do it themselves. You can certainly make money listing stuff for other people, but it will definitely be a lot of work. A couple years ago, there were Ebay “stores” popping up everywhere… where you can drop your stuff off and they list it on Ebay for you. But those seem to be disappearing (at least in my area), which would lead me to believe that they were not incredibly profitable.

I’m not familiar with that particular program, so I can’t comment on it’s legitimacy. My GUESS is that it’s legitimate, but like MOST online money-making opportunities– most participants do not succeed.

But don’t be discouraged. Most successful online business owners tried many different things and failed before succeeding.

I DO advise that you stick with one thing at a time. Try it and see it through until you fail or succeed. But if you determine that it’s not going to work for you, then it’s time to move on and try something else.

As for how I benefit. Throughout the course of these lessons I will recommend some products and services to help with your business, and I make money if you buy any of them. That’s the primary way I make money from this website. Beyond that, I enjoy helping others. I’ve had good success and I want to leave a legacy in this industry by sharing everything I’ve learned.

I have worked with some CPA networks. Some of them can be sticklers, but the main thing is just to show them that you have a legitimate website that is well established and does not look spammy. That’s one good reason to have an authoratative blog in your niche. If you’re a newbie, you can often get around that if you SOUND like you know what you’re talking about, and tell them you’re an experienced PPC marketer, etc. Most all of them have account reps, and if you take the time to call them and prove that you’re a genuine person, that will also go a long way toward getting you approved in some cases.

CPA can be a great way to make money, and some marketers make millions from it. But IMO it is NOT one of the easiest ways to make money online. Most of the successful CPA marketers are experts at paid traffic, and that’s a high stakes game. So if the CPA game sounds fun to you, start becoming a paid traffic expert.

Finished Lesson-4. Some of the ideas you mentioned–a few of them are ideas I had planned on setting up during the coming year. It was nice to see them in your list; makes me feel better about them now.
Ebay is the one I am currently starting out with. I plan on selling physical products at first. I also have some wholesalers lined up to get the products from. Plus most of them will drop-ship too.

So far, I am enjoying every minute of your lessons. Keep up the good work. It is not often when beginners like me get the chance to learn from a professional.

      Wishing You Well.

      Hello !
I have a question, I see some companie’s sell domain names for as low as $2.50 & up per month, what happens if that company goes under, its gone. what happens to my domain name, is it gone too?, do I lose it & have to buy another one?
PS>>I sent all your emails to my brother Terry in london Ont, so he can watch them along with me at the same time.
I also, emailed clickbank to get back all my money from the companies that I bought from, because they kept on asking for more & more money & their programs are designed to make them 99% of the money for them.

The companies that sell domains that cheap are taking a loss on them. The reason they do it is to make money selling you other things (like hosting), which may be required. If I domain registrar goes out of business, it could be a hassle, but I believe you would still keep the domain. I talk about domains and my recommendation in lesson #23.
