LESSON #4: 18 Ways to Make Money Online

Thus far, I’ve given my definition of what an online business is, and I’ve given you what I feel are a few prerequisites to becoming a successful online business owner.

So now let’s get more detailed as we drill down closer to what you’ll actually be doing. A lot of people say they want to make money on the internet, but they really have no idea what that looks like in real life.

One of the problems is that there are literally thousands of ways to make money on the internet…

Main points:

  • There are thousands of ways to make money online.

  • My way is NOT the only way.

  • Being able to follow a blueprint is great, but I also want you to be able to create your own blueprint when the lessons are over.

  • I want you to see the big picture so that you can look at my business model in the proper context.

  • Avoid the “bright shiny objects” and focus on one opportunity at a time.

  • 3) Physical products

  • 4) Affiliate marketing

  • 5) Work from home job

  • 6) AdSense or other contextual ads (Ok here’s one affiliate link… If you really want to learn all about AdSense I do recommend my friend Joel who is the foremost expert: AdSense Secrets)

  • 7) MLM

  • 8] Coaching/consulting

  • 9) Service site

  • 10) Web hosting – Here’s a free 114 page ebook I wrote about how to be a web hosting reseller.

  • 11) Membership site

  • 12) Social network/web 2.0 site – maybe you will start the next facebook?

  • 13) Freelancer – My favorite freelancer site (where I hire the most people from) is vWorker (formerly known as RentACoder). Another good one is Odesk

  • 14) Paid Blogger – here are some blog posts listing a bunch of paid blogging sites: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 (UPDATE: The link I mentioned in the video is no longer valid, but the links here should work)

  • 15) Domainer – my personal domain registration site is LifeDomains

  • 16) “GPT” sites

  • 17) Sports betting arbitrage

  • 18) Trading (Stocks, commodities, forex, etc) – If you decide that this is an opportunity you want to pursue, I highly recommend my Trading Pro System

  • (This is by no means an exhaustive list)

    Action steps:

    Your action step today is optional. And it’s simple:

    1) look around and see how big the picture is, and how numerous the opportunities are.

    If you want to look around and see what else is out there, now is the time… NOT when we’re on lesson #55 and you’re in the middle of following my online business blueprint. Because once we get started, I want you to commit to following through and finishing it, because if you don’t finish it you won’t succeed with it.

    Now IF you do go out and research some of the opportunities I’ve just mentioned, remember what I said in Lesson #3… don’t buy stuff unless you know what you’re doing!

    I know this goes against the grain of what most marketers would do in my situation. I should be reeling you in and hooking you on my own idea. But I don’t want to do that. I want you to understand the scope of opportunity out there, and then choose to follow my lessons because you WANT to. Not just because you feel like its your only option. And if you’re confident in your decision to follow my blueprint, you’ll be much more focused, and you’ll be more likely to stay the course.

      Thanks again for a great lesson. I am very much enjoying the lessons and look forward to the entire set. I was wondering about the whole set of lessons – do you have them in a packaged set? Have you thought of the set being made available for a reference resourse after the course is complete? I for one would be very interested in such a package. If you are not contemplating the set perhaps you could think about it and let me know what would be involved to getting the entire 100 lessons. They are both enjoyable and informative. Thank you very much for your time and extensive knowledge.

      Hi Eric,

      I agree with what you stated. When I first started out in IM, I joined the Warrior’s Forum & I was overwhelmed with the choice of WSO’s. I’d start following a WSO & I wouldn’t complete it as I was after the next big thing that would make me alot of money. Boy was I wrong. Since then I stuck with one project at a time from the beginning to the end. It’s hard to do, but you need to do it. I am now seeing success.

      Eric mentions in Lesson #3, not to buy “stuff”, especially if you do not know what you are doing. Well, I certainly fall within that category at the present time, as I surely don’t have a clue about what I’m doing – that’s why I’m here. But, according to your website, it appears you don’t have to KNOW what you are doing in that particular offer. It appears to be all set up and ready to go – it’s that all there is to it? Curious, because this guy definitely needs some cash coming in. And, is a website required?

      That is a good list of ideas. I especially like the consultant idea since this has really opened up to a lot of people that know about how marketing works on the internet. The idea of local marketing has really opened a lot of doors for webmasters and marketers to serve their local community making sure the local brick and mortar businesses are set up properly in all aspects of local search. It is not fun! I plan to stay the course with Erics tips and finally make some money with a online business.

      You are going right down the line that I usually go, but I don’t see everything like you do. I am usually looking for the easy dollar and have no idea what I am doing. Still don’t but , thanks to you I am not going to try and spend money I don’t have on stuff I don’t even know if I need it or not. Thanks, I hope I can stay with you. As slow as I am, sometimes some of this stuff comes at me fast because I don’t know what I am doing.

      My thoughts, exactly. Information overload, not knowing who to trust, confusion. Information overload has me currently to the point to where I can hardly even think. The info/digital products and affiliate marketing are also the two I have selected. My first need is to identify who I can trust to help me get the businesses set up. Money is tight, so no wasting any of it. I have decided that I trust The Real Guys. You guys shine! All I need now is precise instructions on how to effectively put it all together and start making money.
      Eric, you described my circumstances to the “t”. I’m going to stop buying stuff and checking out the next new thing.

      Yes, many people now have their entire careers online. There can be ups and downs in things like advertising, but it’s also possible to have “Cash Cows.” Those are parts of your online business that continually pull in profits for you!

      There are lots of people who are new to this and think that making money online is as simple as slapping up a website with links and the money will come.

      Any business both on or offline takes WORK. It also helps if you have a little cash to invest.

      Remember, in order to make money online, you need to put in the work.

      hi eric i have only so far listen to 4 lessons ,and only ran across your blog because i had spent money on a how to make money on the enter-net .and just as you have said they are confusing and a lot of mixed up info no structure and wanting to sell me something different on every lesson, . links on every page and i was lost at the get go .i found you because they were talking about how to stet up something and did not explain how to do it at all i run across your Eric’s tips and havent been back to their lesson since then..what you are doing is straight forward tell it how it is with no bs thank you for all the time you have put in to this for us newbes that have the what but don’t know where and how to start .

      Many of the so called work-at-home processing jobs are scams so you have to be careful. If you want to do this kind of work, I would recommend becoming a freelancer. You could offer your services and be hired as a virtual assistant, or you could bid on jobs on freelancer sites such as Odesk and vWorker

      You should never purchase anything if is just going to sit on your computer collecting virtual dust.

      However, at some point, you will need tools to help grow your business.

      We only recommend that you make purchases when you plan to actually use a tool for your business right away!
