LESSON #4: 18 Ways to Make Money Online

By | June 16, 2008

Thus far, I’ve given my definition of what an online business is, and I’ve given you what I feel are a few prerequisites to becoming a successful online business owner.

So now let’s get more detailed as we drill down closer to what you’ll actually be doing. A lot of people say they want to make money on the internet, but they really have no idea what that looks like in real life.

One of the problems is that there are literally thousands of ways to make money on the internet…

(Watch this video…)

Join my coaching club

Main points:

  • There are thousands of ways to make money online.

  • My way is NOT the only way.

  • Being able to follow a blueprint is great, but I also want you to be able to create your own blueprint when the lessons are over.

  • I want you to see the big picture so that you can look at my business model in the proper context.

  • Avoid the “bright shiny objects” and focus on one opportunity at a time.

Some ways to make money online include (see video for details):

  • 1) Ebay

  • 2) Info products/Digital products

  • 3) Physical products

  • 4) Affiliate marketing

  • 5) Work from home job

  • 6) AdSense or other contextual ads (Ok here’s one affiliate link… If you really want to learn all about AdSense I do recommend my friend Joel who is the foremost expert: AdSense Secrets)

  • 7) MLM

  • 8] Coaching/consulting

  • 9) Service site

  • 10) Web hosting – Here’s a free 114 page ebook I wrote about how to be a web hosting reseller.

  • 11) Membership site

  • 12) Social network/web 2.0 site – maybe you will start the next facebook?

  • 13) Freelancer – My favorite freelancer site (where I hire the most people from) is vWorker (formerly known as RentACoder). Another good one is Odesk

  • 14) Paid Blogger – here are some blog posts listing a bunch of paid blogging sites: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 (UPDATE: The link I mentioned in the video is no longer valid, but the links here should work)

  • 15) Domainer – my personal domain registration site is LifeDomains

  • 16) “GPT” sites

  • 17) Sports betting arbitrage

  • 18) Trading (Stocks, commodities, forex, etc) – If you decide that this is an opportunity you want to pursue, I highly recommend my Trading Pro System

  • (This is by no means an exhaustive list)

    Action steps:

Your action step today is optional. And it’s simple:

    1) look around and see how big the picture is, and how numerous the opportunities are.

If you want to look around and see what else is out there, now is the time… NOT when we’re on lesson #55 and you’re in the middle of following my online business blueprint. Because once we get started, I want you to commit to following through and finishing it, because if you don’t finish it you won’t succeed with it.

Now IF you do go out and research some of the opportunities I’ve just mentioned, remember what I said in Lesson #3… don’t buy stuff unless you know what you’re doing!

I know this goes against the grain of what most marketers would do in my situation. I should be reeling you in and hooking you on my own idea. But I don’t want to do that. I want you to understand the scope of opportunity out there, and then choose to follow my lessons because you WANT to. Not just because you feel like its your only option. And if you’re confident in your decision to follow my blueprint, you’ll be much more focused, and you’ll be more likely to stay the course.

As always, you are welcome to post your questions and comments below.

    Have a great day!

      Hello George,

That’s a great idea! Unfortunately, we don’t have a script that would make this possible.

You could just use a Word document or text file, and make a new paragraph for each lesson.

Claudia, you are right. Thank GOD Eric is a Christian. I too bought some of Anthony Morrisons products and have not made more than about $4.19 on one of them ( don’t know which one). I got stuck after being told to set up a webpage. He has a free webpage but one can only use his stuff to put on it and pay out boo coo bucks to have one of his staff walk you through setting up a ‘real’ system. Way to go Eric. I can’t wait until you get to how to set up a webpage and which one to buy hosting/domains with. I have one through purchaseyour.com but it’s not much help either. I pay so much money per month to keep it just because I hope to some today ‘get it right and up and running.

      Hi Eric,
I really like your tips, you are very honest about everything. I have as you say been buying too many things and have requested too many refunds. I have come too the conclusion that I need to focus on one thing, one business. I definitely have info over-load. Can I send you my Idea or what I am pursuing right and get your input on it? If so email me and I will send you my business plan which I hope to get you to be a part of the campaign.

      Hello Heidi,

You should never purchase anything if is just going to sit on your computer collecting virtual dust.

However, at some point, you will need tools to help grow your business.

We only recommend that you make purchases when you plan to actually use a tool for your business right away!

Thanks for giving a broad spectrum on the types of internet opportunities available out there.

I kind of have a flare for marketing Amazon and Clickbank products and to do a little of blogging.

Eric. I was reading you list of businesses and I I was interested in Paid Blogging #14 so i click on Part 1 and it took me to Squidoo. As i was reading, one statement was “you don;t need a hosting account”. My question is, if Squidoo is a hosting account how come on top of there website they are advertizing Hostgator?

      Hello Adele,

Squidoo actually just hosts individual webpages for users called, “lenses.” These lenses have limited options for what may be displayed.

They are likely doing well advertising web hosting, for users who are ready to have their own websites, without any limitations on what is displayed.

      Hello Eric,
I have been actively looking for something on the internet for the last few months. I did get burned and lost money. I have also learned a great deal, so I can say I have had an expensive education. I am also doing a few things I believe in and am forging ahead with them. What is lacking for most of us is a solid education on “how to”. I think I am learning from you and look forward to so much more. There is a lot of crap out there, but I think you are a jewel.
Thanks for clearing things with us, so those that want to learn can move on

Hey Eric, Once again really appreciate your straightforward approach. I’ve chosen the path of affiliate marketing myself. Before I settled on it I was one of the people getting distracted by all the bright and shiny objects out there. Keep up the great work and thanks for making it so accessible to those of us that barely have 2 pennies to rub together..

      Eric,
You’re a man of true integrity – that’s refeshing. Sure many people ‘out there’ are wanting to sell their way of making money online but the covert manipulation is evident in so many. Sometimes though, it isn’t evident immediately and it’s the time wasted that leads to feeling dispirited about the whole IM business. This lesson therefore is invaluable and I know one thing, I wish I had come across your teachings a while ago – I have learnt the hard way. By the way, I think I can guess which two methods you are going to teach/talk about 😉

      Question(?) as a newbie

We earn commission/money only when the sale made,
So is there any certainty about weekly/monthly sale happening ?

      Reply
    32. Micah

      Hello Rajdatta,

We can’t guarantee that your idea or affiliate business will be sure to generate weekly or monthly commissions for you. But, the people who don’t quit, but try again and again with new ideas, often find great success!

We have seen people earn money on their first day in some cases though. If you work hard, it’s possible for you to build a successful affiliate business too!

This is great information and reinforces some things I am thinking… I would like to work with digital products rather than physical products like I am now. There is a bigger risk to buy and hold inventory and all the fright casts involved eat away at profits.
