LESSON #63: Building a Squeeze Page

By | April 14, 2010

In the previous lesson we learned what a squeeze page is, and what it does.

Today we’re going to get our hands dirty (OK, maybe not), and we’re going to go through the process of creating a squeeze page…

(Watch this video…)

Join my coaching club

Main points:

  • You can build a squeeze page using almost any platform or tool you’re using for your website.

  • Two main formats for short-copy squeeze pages…

    1) Linear
    2) Side-by-side

    (See video for examples)

Download my free squeeze page template.

  • (See video for walk-through of building a squeeze page)

  • It’s generally best to have no distractions on your confirmation page. The objective is to get the prospect to COMPLETE the double opt-in, so you should show and tell them how to do that.

  • The download page for your freebie can be monetized with offers for your own product(s) and with affiliate links.

  • Be sure to test your squeeze page by doing a live walk-through of the entire opt-in process.

  • If you haven’t yet signed up for a list hosting service, I recommend AWeber Communications

  • For additional education on list building, please see my List Building Pack

    Action steps:

    1) Create a squeeze page.

    2) Create a confirmation page.

    3) Create a download page for your freebie.

    4) Get it all online and test it.

If you want to do something really cool, you might want to consider adding audio or video to your squeeze page. We’ll be looking at how to do that in the next lesson.

As always, you are welcome to post your questions and comments below, and be sure to show us your squeeze page!

    Have a great day!

      Eric,

I really enjoyed watching your squeeze page creation video. You make it seem so easy I guess after awhile when you’ve done so many it becomes second nature.

      I will employ your technique.

      Thank you Eric!

Thanks for your lessons, they are easy to follow and understand.

Sales Funnel, Squeeze Pages and linking with Auto Responder others assume everyone understands how to link it all together.

You have done an exceptional A-B-C on the topic.

Eric,I have a free ebook I’m offering. When someone requests it, they get the download and are added to my list. How do I offer another product so that anyone can order it even if they are already on my list? If this information is available in Aweber or your previous material could you point me in the right direction?

You can create a unique sales page and download page for each product you are selling. The main info that you need is in lesson #54:

LESSON #54: Creating Payment Buttons and Thank-You Pages

You should also create a seperate list in AWeber for each product.

In lesson #69 I will show you how to segment your lists, and how to automatically remove prospects from your prospect list when they become a paid customer.

      Thanks Eric.

since I have been following you. I have put together some 25 sites and have finally started to make money online.

This squeeze page will give me the opportunity to get my list monitized, instead of just one-off sales.

      so many thanks

      regards

Thanks Eric, awesome info I’m planning to use this info soon but I am not sure about one thing. When I use FTP to install a Squeeze page on WordPress how do you, eliminate the navigation, sidebar links, and other widgets from the WP web page?

      Reply
    12. Eric Post author

      You have two choices…

      1) you could make the page using HTML just like I did in this lesson. Upload it via FTP, and it will operate independent of your WordPress installation.

      2) you could make the page in WordPress (as a PAGE, not a post. See lesson #34). In this case you would not upload anything via FTP . You would make the page in your WP admin panel. And the only way to eliminate the sidebar and navigation would be to either do some custom coding, or to choose a WP theme that has the option of removing the sidebar on a per post/page basis (several of them have this option).

      Hi Eric,

I already read your helpful Lesson #63.I just downloaded your squeeze page template and I tried to create the first my squeeze page without to finish it.I’m still confused.
I already purchased your OTOs package template and now I’m going to sell an individual MRR (called “List Building Explained)by using your OTO1 template.I just uploaded them to my domain.Today I created a squeeze page upon your Lesson #63.The header,sub-header,benefits and my picture are inspired from this MRR product.I just created and added an Aweber in-line web form.
My confusion is as to free bonus I have to add on my squeeze page.
This free bonus must be related to my MRR product or can be anythingonly to be valuable?
Can be another MRR product which allow me the right to give as bonus?Just if itsn’t related with my MRR product for sale?

Of course, next days I’ll create a confirmation page and a download page as well

      Thanks for your answers.

It is best if the freebie is related to what you are selling on the OTO.

But since you are selling in the “internet marketing” niche, there are a wide variety of products that would be suitable.

Yes it could be another MRR or PLR product, as long as you’re allowed to give it away for free.

Tough call. I think I like the linear better.

But the only way to know for sure is to split test them (see lesson #57) and see which one gets a higher opt-in rate 🙂

I peronally prefer Rentacoder and Odesk over Elance.

If you prefer to work with someone locally, I’d recommend craigslist.

If you want to try forming a JV or some sort of swap with another marketer (they help you and you help them), I’d recommend the Warrior Forum.
