LESSON #7: What kind of online business will we build?

In the first 6 lessons, my goal has been more or less to give you the proper perspective of this whole online business thing.

So now let’s talk about what kind of business I’m going to be showing you how to build.

Main points:

  • Primarily I’m going to be showing you how to build an information marketing business. In other words, you’re going to create and sell your own Info Product.

    (Info products may include… audios, videos, interviews, home study courses, workshops, teleseminars, webinars, email courses, newsletters, CD’s, DVD’s, books, and more)

  • Secondarily, I’ll be covering affiliate marketing because it really goes hand in hand quite nicely with information marketing.

  • These are the two methods by which I’ve made the most money online.

  • If you’ve already chosen another online busines path: although those are the two business models that I’ll be teaching, there are countless other types of businesses that could fit with much of what I’m going to teach. In other words, keep watching the lessons!

  • Why have I chosen the info product route?

    a) You need your own product!
    b) An information product can be created for low cost or zero cost.

    Action steps:

    1) Get some rest and get fired up to start your online business.

    So now that we know WHAT we’re going to do… the next step is to make sure you’ve got the proper tools on hand to get started. You don’t need a whole lot, but there are some things, and I’ll talk about those tools in the next lesson.

      Hey Eric! I jsut finished Lesson #7! I am smiling as I type this reflecting on the picture you put at the end with the sleeping toddler! I enjoy your sense of humor and it lightens up the load of stress trying to learn everything and not miss nothing!! I have decided that I am going to be an Affiliate Marketer so that I can advertise many different types of products instead of just one. I am trying not to jump and run with so little information, that would be bad for me in and of itself! I know that I am running behind but I am working on catching up quickly as I do 2 or 3 lessons each day while trying to find some quick easy way to make a few dollars in order to do little projects on the side.       There are some legitimate paid survey sites. However, I do not consider this is be a viable long term business model. It’s a way for some people to make a few extra dollars online, but it’s not really scalable. IMO, it would be better to invest your time into building a real business.

      Hi Eric,
      I will be looking forward to the downloadable version. My internet at home is such that I can’t watch videos online, and I only have limited time on WiFi so I have to make hard choices at times. From the reading I’ve done, this series is excellent and I can hardly wait to see what I’ve missed!

      While often difficult to discern between junk and treasure, I am now convinced you are offering quality information.

      I created my own info product and learned the 1st yr was to be spent proving to my target audience that the new program was legitimate. Once I worked through it, I had a passion for more info programs to be offered. I am still slow at initiating new offerings and therefore look forward to not re-inventing the wheel by hearing and learning from your experiences.

      Hi Eric, thank you again for the info. on getting started. By the way, just before I found, and subscribed to your training here, I did purchase an affiliate product that looks decent called IM-Mind Map by Alex Goodall. It is software for organizing Internet marketing files into an orderly manner, but even though it claims to simplify things, it looks like there is a tremendous learning curve on how to use it, and update files that you have in it. Maybe you have some knowledge on this software, and could give me further guidance in both using, and marketing it?…I look forward to lesson #8…Friends, Lloyd.

      Hi Lloyd, I think Alex will be the best resource for learning how to use the IM Mind Map software. I personally do not use it, because I have always been fanatical about organizing my products on my hard drive, and have done so for many years. But I realize that most people struggle with this, and that is why I strongly recommend the IM Mind Map organizer for them. thanks!

      Hi Eric, You provided a lot to think about on this lesson.There are so many people out there just circling like buzzards in the sky and when the see a newbie they start coming in loser and closer looking to get their pound of flesh. It is very hard for one to find a person on the net that is not looking for your wallet so if and when you do find one HANG ON for dear life. He or she is a rarity not the rule, and that is a real shame.

      I am in the same position and am only able to read the written stuff. I too would enjoy a downloadable version that I can read, video would be more convenient, but reading is all I can do for now and I do watch out for the lessons and try to gather as much from this course as is possible without seeing the video.

      Hi Eric, you are absolutely right in your video it is impossible now to build serious business model with out knowledge like how to build website and then how to create back links and syndicate your content. But the problem I personally have is how to focus on doing all this as I need the clear step by step plan . Do have one ? If you do will you teach us here?Thank you.
