LESSON #82: Social Media Implementation (Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Linked-In, S.U.)

By | September 3, 2011

(Part 2 of 2)

This is part two of my social media crash course for Internet marketers. If you haven’t watched part one yet (Introduction to Social Media), I recommend watching it first.

The following video is actually the longest video of the entire 100 lesson series, clocking in at nearly two hours! As you’ll see, there’s really no filler…I just had a lot to cover. I could have sold these two social media lessons as a course on their own.

(Watch this video – it may take a minute to load after clicking it…)

Outline:

Due to the length of this lesson, I’ve included the start-time for each section, in case you need to skip ahead.

  • Integration strategies (Starting at 3:52)

    -Link Building/SEO
    -Content Syndication
    -Social Media Automation
    -Content Distribution/Feeder Strategy

-Note: The “Opt-in App” is no longer available, and seems to have been disabled by Facebook. I did say in the lesson that this was a likely eventual outcome, so “use it while you can”. However, AWeber now has a built-in Facebook registration widget which will convert your opt-in form into a Facebook registration button if you choose that option! So I recommend using that instead.

    -S.U. tips & tricks

  • Outsourcing (Starting at 105:33)

-Reasons to outsource or not outsource social media
-You should outsource as much of it as you can.
    -Specific things you can outsource
    -Options for outsourcing social media:
-Hire your own in-house or virtual employees
    -Use an outsourcing company
    -Social Media Management Company

  • Social media marketing group: www.linkedin.com/groups/Social-Media-Marketing-66325

    Action steps:

    1) Create and optimize your profile on Facebook, Google+, Twitter, and Linked-In.

    2) Consider using the recommended software, plugins, and other tools to integrate social media with your business, and maximize your efficiency.

    3) Stay involved. Consistency is key.

    4) Outsource as much as you can.

In the next lesson we’ll be looking at some more free web traffic sources and strategies.

As always, you are welcome to post your questions and comments below 🙂

    Have a great day!

Thank you Eric good to know I’m on the right track 🙂 you always have good info to share. I need to start more video. As well as come up with a good landing page to get people to join. I have an opt in on my site but it’s voluntary and have been thinking of using it as a pop up even though I hate pop up’s myself lol Check it out on flipit4u.com

Thanks Eric! I’m trying to master the Facebook traffic secrets. I haven’t even touched LinkedIn yet. What are your thoughts about SalesSpider? Is it a waste of time? I use twitter and StumbleUpon and believe it or not, according to Alexa, most of my traffic is coming from social networking sites. Only 33% comes from a search engine.

My site is ranked 79k in the world, so that’s a decent amount of traffic. I pulled in 17,000 unique visitors last month which was my record and I am striving to break that again this month. Thanks for the tips!

Holy cow, Eric! The information in this video would bring absolutely stupid amounts of money if you sold it as a course. I am repeatedly and absolutely blown away at how generous you are with your time and knowledge. Thank you SO much for sharing this… and let me just say, your timing on releasing this video is perfect!

      Eric-

Looking forward to diving into this latest gem you have put together. Honored to have our stuff as a part of your recommended training for Google+.

Have you considered YouTube to be a social network? I find it does well to deliver converting traffic.

      Regards,

Hi Eric, excellent information as usual. Have a question. You say in the video we need 10 likes on our FB page to get a shorter url and get rid of the numbers and have a better address. But as far as I know we need 25 likes???
Do you have some favors in US compared to us in Sweden and Europe??? Just kidding:-) Can you clarify little about that. Do we need 10 or 25?
Thank you for all good lessons.

Fantastic info Eric! This has come at the right time for me. I’ve been skirting around this issue for a while because I was too busy learning everything else.

If internet marketers don’t embrace social media they will get left behind. It’s a must.

Interesting point though Eric. You don’t have a linkedin button on your blog.

A nice plugin is “Really simple Facebook and Twitter share buttons”.

It’s better than it sounds because it has all the main buttons plus a few others that you can activate in the settings, to show above or below posts, or both. I use it on my site.

Thanks again for all this great info. Bless you Eric.

Hey Eric, that was a long lesson in deed. I’m sure you’re right though. And I am on most of the social networks but like you say it can be a time waster if not done right.
So out sourcing maybe the way to go for me because I’m not one to toot my own horn. It’s just to much like selling Amway to my friends and relatives to me.
Maybe it’s just a pride thing with me. I don’t know but, it just doesn’t feel right.
And I know social media can draw a lot of traffic it’s the quality I wonder about and my friends I could lose in the process of trying to make a buck.
I personally don’t have time for it all right now myself.I have other obligations right now.
You’ve got kids with your wife to help you and I’ve got parents almost on my own.
There was a time I thought raising kids was hard. Not any more. Enjoy them while you got them. They grow up way too fast!

    10. Building Traffic

Facebook Pages is becoming more and more essential especially if you are trying to build a community around a particular niche. It builds credibility and confidence too for the creators.

And what’s amazing, it gives a repeat visitor, and a loyal follower.

I would say, FB and Twitter has also become phenomenal nowadays for any business man. Thanks a lot Eric!!!

Eric, I loved this lesson, as I’ve loved all the previous ones. You’ve been one of the, maybe 4, biggest influences in my struggle with online marketing. Question, I hope not too off-topic: I have an account with GMAIL, which I have used a lot; my website has its own email address, that I am starting to use more as the business grows. I access it through Thunderbird. Is there a way to access the web email adress through Gmail, thus being able to check both accounts at once? Thanx for all you do, and all you share.

I’ve not yet used SalesSpider, however it looks like an interesting network. It fits well with my “Go where the fish are” philosophy. I like that you can drill down into specific categories. What I don’t like is it looks like a lot of ads on the site and not much content being posted by users.

Keep up the good work on your social media efforts.

Thanks Travis, your videos are great. I do consider Youtube a social site… it was one one the 1st-tier sites listed in lesson #81. The reason I didn’t cover it in this lesson is because I covered it in lesson #80 🙂

Maybe they changed it. Whatever Facebook says, is right. My “prime the pump” method would be a quick way to get 25 likes.

Thank you so much for this awesome lesson, Eric! I haven’t much time to “do” social media, but I could need the traffic!
So outsourcing would be the thing for me. Could you please say a couple of words on how to do it?
      Thank you!

Hi Eric, your teachng is amazing and I have learned SO MUCH from you. Looking forward to watching your marathon video. Could I ask you a question? If you have two major interests, should you have a twitter account for each or can you use one account? Love your stuff.

Generally speaking, it would be best to have separate twitter accounts for each niche/business. That way you can cater your tweets to those audiences, and build a targeted following. The possible exception would be if you are personally known as a guru/expert in both of those fields. In that case you might have better results with one account as your own name, and cater to both audiences.

Eric, I have a quick question about the Welcome page. I’m just constructing one on my fan page. I know enough about HTML to build the page, but what do I do with the images? Do I upload them somewhere, or what? How do I reference them in the code? Once again, thanx for being there.

Eric, Once more your lesson is filled with amazingly insightful information, for which I am truly grateful.
I have looked quite seriously at your Coaching Club membership, and am seriously trying to make the $97.00 per month available. While doing that I had an idea which could conceivably open an untapped market for you and in conjunction with one of my current projects.
I realize this isn’t the best forum to make that inquiry, but I can’t find any way to contact you personally. If you are at all interested in making your Coaching Club available to a unique Christian based marked, I would welcome an email from you personally.
Certainly you receive all sorts of requests similar to this, but I would be honored and thrilled to share my idea with you.
Finally, I do sincerely appreciate your meaningful lessons. As my 49th year of classroom teaching is starting, and my fledgling online business begins to blossom, I give you credit for a significant component of the online business success.

Hi Eric, thanks for the detailed video, very useful. I have a question though regarding the author link using google+ url. In a video of Matt Cutts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gG3Oh7Ues8A)he mentioned that the + should be in front of anchor text and it seems that we should our real name as anchor as well. You’re suggesting to put it after, does it change anything?

      Hi Eric,
The only thing that’s showing up on my FB page is the html code and not the picture. I tried hosting the page through google sites, (which worked for another one of my pages on FB) and through my website…same results. HELP!

You sent me an email about a money making opportunity with a guaranteed refund if I was not happy with the program, but the link did not work. My internet connection is fine, so I am wondering if there is a website about this opportunity you could email to me?

      Yes,

      From the FB Help Center:

“How many Pages can I manage?
There is no limit to the number of Pages you can manage. You can manage as many Pages as you have been given the authority to manage. The Page Admin who initially creates the Page reserves the right to add or remove other Page Admins at their discretion.”
