Happy Thanksgiving 2008

By | November 27, 2008

(In case you saw the original title of this post “Happy Thanksgiving 2009”, there’s a simple explanation. I had just finished Thanksgiving dinner and sat down on the couch to hurriedly type this post. Apparently all that turkey tryptophan got to my brain, because I forgot what year it was and didn’t realize it until the comments started coming in 😉 )

I try to avoid making the cliché “holiday blog posts”. After all, do you really need to read ANOTHER sappy “I’m so thankful for…” article?

And in the Internet marketing world the way it usually works is the marketer says… Happy thanksgiving, now go buy this.

The fact is, I am incredibly grateful for my life and the people in it. But I’ll spare you the stereotypical thanksgiving “stuffing”, because I want to do something a little different.

First, I want everyone who reads this newsletter to know that I’m thankful for YOU. Without you, Eric’s Tips wouldn’t exist.

Here’s a FREE small gift as a token of my appreciation. It’s an ebook called Firesale Profits Revealed. I’ve made tens of thousands of dollars from quick little firesales, so this ebook talks about how to do it (Note: I didn’t write it… it was ghost written)…

Click Here to Download Now (Includes Master Resale Rights)

It also comes with Master Resale Rights and a full sales page for you to sell it from. Here’s the rights…

[YES] Can resell it and keep 100% of the profits
[YES] Can sell resale rights
[YES] Can give it away
[YES] Can bundle with other products
[YES] Can use as bonus
[YES] Can add to membership site
[NO] Includes Private Label Rights

Second, instead of making a huge list of things I’m thankful for, I want to know what YOU are thankful for. Please post in the comments below what you are thankful for.

UPDATE:

Thank you so much to every one who posted a comment below. Many of them brought tears to my eyes. I’m sure the comments have touched and inspired hundreds of people who have read through them.

I honestly did not know what to expect. I knew I would get some comments, but the depth and sincerity of them really surprised me, particularly in light of the difficult time the world is currently going through.

Thank you for reminding me that the difficult times reveal to us what we have to be thankful for.

There were so many great comments… honorable mentions include Michael Robinson, Keith, Michaela, Ron, Simon W Rosenberg DMD, Ray, Pete Bass, Glenn Hughes, Carol Huskison, and too many others to mention them all.

My “runner up” would be Scott, whose website is Ask the Wealth Squad, who said:

I am thankful for

The pain I sometimes wake up to make me enjoy the freedom of pain.

My divorce for making me realize what was missing in my life – a strong relationship with God and his son Jesus

My recent layoff from work which gave me time to think about what I wanted to do with my life when I grow up (Currently age 40 but not wanting to grow up just yet)

The recent drop in the stock market as it created the realization that invested in ourselves in the best stock to buy.

The courts for granting me custody of my wonderful son 13 years ago.

My parents for feeding me while I am laid off

My years of plenty and God’s wisdom to store some wealth so that I can live for a bit without worry.

The worry that comes from that time I can live on my savings which gives me courage to do something new.

My friends and family for doubting me when I was young as it gave me the strength to succeed.

My dogs who love me no matter what the world does.

The USA and the opportunities it brings to anyone who is willing to work and sacrifice.

Our soldiers who have died protecting those rights.

The 2nd Amendment which protects us from our government reaching too far.

The Constitution and the brilliance it brings to our lives.

Austrian economics to understand business cycles and realize that this too shall pass.

Your website and the generosity you show – and the realization that you can be focused on doing good in the world and making a profit at it.

The interest and the ease of access to information to see how the world really works.

My travels overseas to fully understand how different our country is.

For my website which is still a work in progress – so this post has to stir me to action to finish it 🙂

For God sending his son to suffer and die for me.

For every breath
For every step
For every tear
For every pain
For every fear
For every doubter

For without struggle how can we say we have overcome? How can we know victory without knowing loss?

We fail not when we fall but when we don’t get up.

Scott

For the “winning” comment, I am choosing Kathryn Duerst, whose comment embodies the spirit of thankfulness. Thank you for reminding me to take a second look to see the divine.

Kathryn said,

Gratefulness is the ability to see the good in every circumstance, as even the hard times and trials are intended by God to shape us into His beautiful image and build our character. This is what I have heard all my life, but it does not come naturally without the practice of seeing as He sees. At first glance, I see the human side only, and it takes a second look to see the divine.

At first glance, I see the folks I care for at my jobs, elderly and handicapped people, and I think how difficult it must be for them to live in a body that does not perform as one wishes it could. Then I recall my training, that these people are gifted and special, and I am to come alongside as a friend, enjoying them and the value they contribute to my life. They do not want pity.

Seeing the one who has his feeding through a tube, I am grateful I can taste food and feel it going down my throat. Seeing the one who depends on me to be his eyes, I relish the many beautiful colors, shapes, lights, and bright eyes I can see. Seeing those who must move slowly in a wheelchair or with a cane, I exult in my bouncing steps down the hallway to answer the next call. These people make me know how good I have it.

And I wonder, if I was in their situation, would I be as pleasant? The blind man is so full of stories, memories from almost a century of life. He is one of my favorite people.

The one who gets a tube feeding every morning is so sweet and cooperative as I brush his teeth, lift him to his bath, and pour rinse water over his head; he trusts me completely. What faith! He seems grateful to have me there to help. I get to feel very needed and useful.
Then I think how much we all depend on each other. I depend on people like Eric to teach me everything about Internet marketing; without a mentor, I would be very handicapped online. I am so grateful there are people with a spirit of giving, to help me see hope in my circumstances. They breathe the divine viewpoint into my perspective.

So I am not just a struggling laborer, working for ten dollars an hour, 60 hours a week, a single parent of seven, wondering when I will get my lucky break. I am part of a divine drama in which God has me and others doing whatever most demonstrates His love to one another each moment.

I am grateful I can serve and help the people I care for, and I am grateful I have some time left over after all the hours I put in at work to pay the bills, so I can be with my family a little while, and I can work online, too, for the day my online business will free me to be wherever I am needed most, just because I want to be.

This evening, I am spending the time with my family and the family of my daughter’s fiancé, and I have a few days off before the wedding to prepare for it. I feel incredibly blessed to enjoy this special time and relish it, because in a few days, the happy couple will be moving 2000 miles away, and I will be working hard to be able to afford to visit them whenever I want to. Gratefulness makes the most of what I have now, and it sees the potential in the future. I am grateful for these blessings.

Kathryn from Minnesota

I will be mailing Kathryn the Traffic Stampede course as a prize.

Although the contest is over, it’s not too late to post your comment of thankfulness. I know I will return to this page for inspiration when I’m feeling discouraged. You might want to bookmark it and do the same.

Have a great day and a happy Thanksgiving!

I’m thankful for the United State Congress, for their hard work, their courage and foresight. For their selflessness, their wisdom and their willingness to make the tough decisions and do what they know is right, no matter the consequences. I’m thankful that they are always there to make us more prosperous and free. I’m thankful to live in a country where I am free to be bitter and sarcastic even on a solemn holiday like Thanksgiving.

Just kidding, I am truly thankful to live in such a great country, with boundless opportunity and I am thankful for the men and women who have given their lives to protect our liberty.

I am thankful for people, books, films or idea’s that inspire me and help me remember who I really am. Not the roles I do, the hats I wear or the perception of who I am but the real me. A spiritual being having a (very) human experience.

I am grateful for that and for you asking me.

Hi Everyone & Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your families!

I’d just like to say first that I’m not the most religious person but I truly do believe in the spirit of giving, helping others, and counting your blessings in life every day.

I’ve almost reached a milestone now of 20 years in the medical field(and believe me when I say I’ve seen a lot of others not as fortunate as some of us)First a Fire Fighter and Paramedic. Then a medical technician and now a Pet Scan Tech for Cancer patients in our local hospital.

I’m not the richest guy from doing this but maybe one of the luckiest. I do have a stable job in the medical field(even with a shakey economy) and an opportunity every day to help sick people and put a smile on the faces of cancer patients and family members…has anyone ever seen a really sick person smile? They forget everything including their pain for just a couple minutes. I’ve always felt laughter is one of the best medicines and something I’ve always been lucky enough to easily give others.

When you see all the sickness,do your best to help and then count your own blessings from those experiences…your life becomes richer with more meaning, gratitude and thankfulness.

    Over and Out,
    Gary

I have been using Gratitude almost daily in my life for the past 10 years. As I sit down to my nightly meal I give thanks to all that I have in my life. By focusing on what I am grateful for brings more of what I am grateful for into my life. Everyone around the table does the same as we hold hands and connect to each other. Not only does it put a smile on our faces to remember what we DO have, it also gives us all an opportunity to acknowledge that which we have accomplished, those who we are grateful for in our lives, and that which has come to us which we appreciate.

I can only say this.. by using gratitude I am debt free, own my own home, and are 2 months off spending 6 months in Asia backpacking with my husband. I seem to be in the monority, and I feel that gratitude has taken me to this place of being stress free in a “stressful world”.

I am thankful that I am Me,
    and You are You,
and we are not the turkey.
I am thankful that I understand Gratitude,
and know deep in my soul what it means to be thankful.
Every glimpse of color, sound of thunder,
vibe of a touch, thought of family, every passing moment has glory in it. Being here
and having the opportunity to celebrate life,
and to make things better, or happier for someone somewhere, that makes me thankful.

    Hi Eric;

I am thankful for my sight, so I may see everything that god has created.
I am thankful for my hearing, so I may learn from what others more knowledgeable then I may speak.
I am thankful to be able to speak, so I may pass on any wisdom that I may have learned through life.
I am thankful to be able to touch, so I may feel the embrace that others may bestow upon me.
I am thankful to have the ability to smell, so I may smell natures beauty.
I am Thankful to live in a Country that has true democracy where I am permitted to make a post like this without censorship.
Most of all; I am thankful to all our Armed Forces that protect us and fight when necessary, to allow us the privilege to live the life we do. Without them, none of the above would be possible as we would cease to exist.

    Hi Eric and all,
First I am so gratefull that God allowed Jesus to die that we might live, and for his constant prayers for us everyday that we stay focused on him regardless of what evils are being done around the world, by lawless men. I’m thankfull for his provision, spirt soul and body. I’m thankfull for the answers to the simplest requests I ask of him. I am thankfull for the truth that sets us free and the way he brings lovely people into my life. I’m thankfull for solutions that are natural to every health problem and for his promise that by his stripes (on his back at the whipping post) we are healed, because he made that legally available for us 2,000 years ago, so I agree with him. I’m thankfull for his watching over my family, and the delight in my son’s dog who arrives just when I need to go for a long walk around the river. His excitement is an contagious as soon as I say “Go for a walk!”I am thankfull for the many challenges that “stretch” me and drive me back to him and his word. Im gratefull he tought us to give thru John the Baptist’s words. If a man has 2 coats let him give to him that has none, and that the windows of heaven shall be opened and that, in Malachi, he will pour out a blessing we shall not be able to contain, if we share with others what we have more than we can use. It breaks Satan’s poverty off us and brings us into a real prosperity. I am especially gratefull to have found this site as Eric stands out as some one who has integrity plus excellence in a different arena, (marketting) and has learned how to share. God bless him and his whole family and all his hopefull students. Thank you Eric. Pixie.

This year, I am more thankful than at any previous time in my life. For about 8 years now I have been providing support to an incredible young lady who had suffered through a physically abusive childhood and also had some learning difficulties and social issues. She had to leave home at 17 and try to cope with the world on her own in spite of her neurological challenges and difficulties relating to people.

In spite of all she had had to deal with, she was always kind and joyful to an astounding degree.

This year she was finally able to start college at age 29 after getting jerked around for several years trying to get financial aid for a vocational school.

The community college was able to do testing and diagnosis so she could get help with her differences and, while she struggled badly at first, she’s completing her first semester with A’s and B’s.

The real blessing has come, however, from the understanding she’s gained of herself and the actual problem she’s been coping with, against all odds, for years. All the pieces just finally fell into place for her and she is at peace with the understanding of who she is and how she’s different.

As a result, she has just blossomed in unimaginable ways and for this I am incredibly grateful. Seeing such a deserving person make such a breakthrough fills my heart with gratefulness more than anything else I could imagine.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

I emigrated in USA in 1980 from a communist country in Europe, and I left behind my greatest friend – my husband and the best mother somebody can hope for.

I am thankful that God give me courage and strength to do it.

I am thankful that after 3 years I was able to bring in States my mother, after another 2 years my husband.

I am thankful for the grate life we had here until my husband got sick and left us behind.

I am thankful that in 1986 I became American citizen, and I am proud of it. I love this country for the liberty, opportunity, equal treatment regardless religion, skills, or ethnicity. I also love this country for how many friends I got in 28 years living in States. I firmly believe that the people is the greatest asset we have here, we are the most generous country on earth, and we do a lot of good work all the time when a tragedy struck somewhere on the globe: tsunami, earthquake, famine, we really are the first and the most consistent to help other people.

I am thankful for having the opportunity to travel a lot in USA, to meet wonderful people, to enjoy the mountains, Parks, and shores, to see the best of America which is in small cities or country side. That type of people is closer to my hart.

Eric, I am thankful for what you do for us all, this free course, your openness, your values, your good advises, sharing your expertise, and have understanding for our luck of patience sometime.

Happy Thanksgiving and many returns with health, and prosperity for all.

I am thankful for the power to choose. We can choose our destiny. WE can make great choices and see it come to pass. When we miss the mark we can choose to try again. When we accomplish our objectives, we can choose to celebrate and share with those we love and those in need. And we can choose to be thankful to whom and through whom we were bestowed with such a powerful gift, the gift of choice.

Be thankful for all things: for our trials, as they bring out our character; for our blessings as they bring out our gratitude; for suffering (as we all do at some time), because without suffering, there can be no compassion to show the depths of our hearts; for all of our highs and lows, because without both, we cannot prove and perfect our integrity.

    Hi Eric,

I want to thank YOU for demystifying web site building with HTML from yesterday’s Lesson 28. That is the thing that has stopped me doing any thing in Internet Marketing because now I can build what I want to build, not be dependent. But I want to give thanks for life, my life, I recalled my own battles with death to the wife of a man who has, get this, Breast Cancer. She told me that it is very common amongst men, so they were told by the surgeons. I was given six months to live when I was 22, now I’m 54. It wasn’t until I was 36 did I find the cure, and got a new life, but how can I tell others; build my own website of miracles. Here I am 54 but I got a new life when I was 36, and it wasn’t being “born again.” It was from one; Chinese Medicine, and two; from a very controversial religion. Thanks.

I try to serve my fellow HumanKind with LOVE
So that when my visit comes to a end, Folks can say He contriubte to life and he will be missed. Just like my father on this day.

The posts made here so far have been testimony of that, and very moving. As well as learning to be as effective as possible, hopefully we can all together create pressure for the principles and standards in this industry to be raised as high as possible!

First, thankful for everyone who are on this forum and particularly for Eric for his ‘Tips’.

It is natural for us to ask help from each other in times of trouble or sorrow. It is also natural to plead on behalf of our loved ones. These two forms of prayer – petition and intercession – are vital. But the prayer of thanksgiving, mentioned so often in Scripture and made so eloquently in many Psalms, must also be an essential part of our lives.

Are we truly thankful to God for His innumerable blessings and mercies toward us? Do we really feel we even have anything to be thankful for? Perhaps, amid our daily duties and struggles, an occasion for gratitude seems hard to find. We may have pressing financial needs, urgent family problems, deep personal sorrows or concerns. We may be only too well aware of the evils of our time, or the sins of our heart. We may simply feel empty, weary, isolated. The evening news, or the events in our neighborhood, may make us feel that talk of thanking God is at best simple-minded and at worst hypocritical.

Even with all the trouble in our economy we have so much to be thankful for in this country. We are a blessed (but spoiled) world. We seem to get into a rut of wanting more. Where on earth do we learn that? Our goal should be to count our blessings over the rest of life on a daily basis. We have our wall of gratitude but I’m going to try to say it “out loud” each day. I think we need to learn to be more appreciative of what we have and say so! Instead of gimme gimme gimme we’re going to try some thank you thank you thank you!!

    Best Thankful moment,

I don’t want this to sound like an advert so hopefully I am allowed to post it anonymously.

I am grateful to over 800 Internet users who have purchased a course I sell as part of the income has and still does, go to help poor children in the Philippines.

This year, my family and I are supporting the Kythe Foundation, a hospice for terminally ill children, mostly with Cancer. This year, the children in the Tarlac area will have the best Christmas they have ever had and it is all down to the trust so many people have put in me when they purchased my course.

It is not the first party we have held for them and as a previous posting said, it is wonderful to see those suffering with Cancer smiling, even if it is only for a few minutes. These children were laughing and enjoying themselves like ‘normal’ children and seeing the faces of the parents, to say the least, was wonderful to see.

These children teach all of us a lesson and I am grateful to them as we all live in our own little boxes and the children make us step out of them and see the real world. the show a courage way beyond there joung ages; the average age is about 8 years.

If everyone earning money on the Internet contributed only a small part to the Kythe Foundation, or other organisations like them, the Internet would be the greatest force on Earth for relieving pain and bringing happiness to those too poor to afford even the simplest

We had plans for a dozen people for Thanksgiving, but canceled when my sister-in-law took a misstep off the curb and broke both legs last week.

Today we had Thanksgiving dinner in the hospital rehab, just our immediate family and Michele, hanging out and enjoying a relaxing visit. With excellent care and the additional advantages of chiropractic, homeopathic and spiritual healing, she is doing amazingly well.

Be thankful you have two working legs – that you live and breathe and sit up and take nourishment. So much we take for granted.

    Hi Eric,

I am thankful that on this Thanksgiving Day I was able to share a meal, love, laughter and true appreciation for family with all the trials and difficulty of this past year that I have been going through. But most of all that I am still enjoying good health. I have not made the progress that I hope prayed and worked for but I am not giving up because I believe God is still my guide and as long as I keep on trying I am going to make it before this year ends. I finally built my website and lost it this month, but I am going to give it another try. I MUST SUCCEED, I WILL NOT GIVE UP. Thanks for your help.

    Peaceful Greetings to all.
    “Thankfullness”
I am thankful for my faith in God! I draw on it every moment of every day.
I am thankful for my parents and teachers who nurtured that faith from the day of my birth.
I thank Him for the gifts He gives me, such as the gift of compassion towards those people, animals and all creatures who are suffering.
I thank Him too for reminding me that no matter how painful some of my physical ills may be, they are nothing compared to carrying a cross on one’s shoulders, especially after being cruelly beaten all the night before.
I am thankful beyond words for my darling family, relatives and friends who form the unending circle of love that weaves around my life.
And to these two beautiful 4 legged creatures who are lying on the floor each side of my desk I say thankyou for your contribution to the love in my love, and for the safety and protection you give to our family.
Finally, I thank God for letting me be born and live in Australia. It truly is a garden of Eden
    Love

    Hello Eric:

I am thankful for today. Not just because it’s Thanksgiving, but because it’s another day that God has made & allow me to see. I am thankful for my health & that of my family. I am a Registered Nurse & I see so much sickness that if I am not careful I can take my own health for granted & think that what I see day in & day out only happens to the other person.
Thanks for the gift & the contest

Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours

    Happy Thangsgiving To All
    Hi Eric,

I’m thankful to my friend, Judy who helped me with my husband’s funeral arrangements and invited me to Thanksgiving dinner. He passed
away November 21, 2008. I wouldn’t have known what to do without her help.

Even though I’m grieving, I have a lot to be thankful for.
