Happy Thanksgiving 2008

By | November 27, 2008

(In case you saw the original title of this post “Happy Thanksgiving 2009”, there’s a simple explanation. I had just finished Thanksgiving dinner and sat down on the couch to hurriedly type this post. Apparently all that turkey tryptophan got to my brain, because I forgot what year it was and didn’t realize it until the comments started coming in 😉 )

I try to avoid making the cliché “holiday blog posts”. After all, do you really need to read ANOTHER sappy “I’m so thankful for…” article?

And in the Internet marketing world the way it usually works is the marketer says… Happy thanksgiving, now go buy this.

The fact is, I am incredibly grateful for my life and the people in it. But I’ll spare you the stereotypical thanksgiving “stuffing”, because I want to do something a little different.

First, I want everyone who reads this newsletter to know that I’m thankful for YOU. Without you, Eric’s Tips wouldn’t exist.

Here’s a FREE small gift as a token of my appreciation. It’s an ebook called Firesale Profits Revealed. I’ve made tens of thousands of dollars from quick little firesales, so this ebook talks about how to do it (Note: I didn’t write it… it was ghost written)…

Click Here to Download Now (Includes Master Resale Rights)

It also comes with Master Resale Rights and a full sales page for you to sell it from. Here’s the rights…

[YES] Can resell it and keep 100% of the profits
[YES] Can sell resale rights
[YES] Can give it away
[YES] Can bundle with other products
[YES] Can use as bonus
[YES] Can add to membership site
[NO] Includes Private Label Rights

Second, instead of making a huge list of things I’m thankful for, I want to know what YOU are thankful for. Please post in the comments below what you are thankful for.

UPDATE:

Thank you so much to every one who posted a comment below. Many of them brought tears to my eyes. I’m sure the comments have touched and inspired hundreds of people who have read through them.

I honestly did not know what to expect. I knew I would get some comments, but the depth and sincerity of them really surprised me, particularly in light of the difficult time the world is currently going through.

Thank you for reminding me that the difficult times reveal to us what we have to be thankful for.

There were so many great comments… honorable mentions include Michael Robinson, Keith, Michaela, Ron, Simon W Rosenberg DMD, Ray, Pete Bass, Glenn Hughes, Carol Huskison, and too many others to mention them all.

My “runner up” would be Scott, whose website is Ask the Wealth Squad, who said:

I am thankful for

The pain I sometimes wake up to make me enjoy the freedom of pain.

My divorce for making me realize what was missing in my life – a strong relationship with God and his son Jesus

My recent layoff from work which gave me time to think about what I wanted to do with my life when I grow up (Currently age 40 but not wanting to grow up just yet)

The recent drop in the stock market as it created the realization that invested in ourselves in the best stock to buy.

The courts for granting me custody of my wonderful son 13 years ago.

My parents for feeding me while I am laid off

My years of plenty and God’s wisdom to store some wealth so that I can live for a bit without worry.

The worry that comes from that time I can live on my savings which gives me courage to do something new.

My friends and family for doubting me when I was young as it gave me the strength to succeed.

My dogs who love me no matter what the world does.

The USA and the opportunities it brings to anyone who is willing to work and sacrifice.

Our soldiers who have died protecting those rights.

The 2nd Amendment which protects us from our government reaching too far.

The Constitution and the brilliance it brings to our lives.

Austrian economics to understand business cycles and realize that this too shall pass.

Your website and the generosity you show – and the realization that you can be focused on doing good in the world and making a profit at it.

The interest and the ease of access to information to see how the world really works.

My travels overseas to fully understand how different our country is.

For my website which is still a work in progress – so this post has to stir me to action to finish it 🙂

For God sending his son to suffer and die for me.

For every breath
For every step
For every tear
For every pain
For every fear
For every doubter

For without struggle how can we say we have overcome? How can we know victory without knowing loss?

We fail not when we fall but when we don’t get up.

Scott

For the “winning” comment, I am choosing Kathryn Duerst, whose comment embodies the spirit of thankfulness. Thank you for reminding me to take a second look to see the divine.

Kathryn said,

Gratefulness is the ability to see the good in every circumstance, as even the hard times and trials are intended by God to shape us into His beautiful image and build our character. This is what I have heard all my life, but it does not come naturally without the practice of seeing as He sees. At first glance, I see the human side only, and it takes a second look to see the divine.

At first glance, I see the folks I care for at my jobs, elderly and handicapped people, and I think how difficult it must be for them to live in a body that does not perform as one wishes it could. Then I recall my training, that these people are gifted and special, and I am to come alongside as a friend, enjoying them and the value they contribute to my life. They do not want pity.

Seeing the one who has his feeding through a tube, I am grateful I can taste food and feel it going down my throat. Seeing the one who depends on me to be his eyes, I relish the many beautiful colors, shapes, lights, and bright eyes I can see. Seeing those who must move slowly in a wheelchair or with a cane, I exult in my bouncing steps down the hallway to answer the next call. These people make me know how good I have it.

And I wonder, if I was in their situation, would I be as pleasant? The blind man is so full of stories, memories from almost a century of life. He is one of my favorite people.

The one who gets a tube feeding every morning is so sweet and cooperative as I brush his teeth, lift him to his bath, and pour rinse water over his head; he trusts me completely. What faith! He seems grateful to have me there to help. I get to feel very needed and useful.
Then I think how much we all depend on each other. I depend on people like Eric to teach me everything about Internet marketing; without a mentor, I would be very handicapped online. I am so grateful there are people with a spirit of giving, to help me see hope in my circumstances. They breathe the divine viewpoint into my perspective.

So I am not just a struggling laborer, working for ten dollars an hour, 60 hours a week, a single parent of seven, wondering when I will get my lucky break. I am part of a divine drama in which God has me and others doing whatever most demonstrates His love to one another each moment.

I am grateful I can serve and help the people I care for, and I am grateful I have some time left over after all the hours I put in at work to pay the bills, so I can be with my family a little while, and I can work online, too, for the day my online business will free me to be wherever I am needed most, just because I want to be.

This evening, I am spending the time with my family and the family of my daughter’s fiancé, and I have a few days off before the wedding to prepare for it. I feel incredibly blessed to enjoy this special time and relish it, because in a few days, the happy couple will be moving 2000 miles away, and I will be working hard to be able to afford to visit them whenever I want to. Gratefulness makes the most of what I have now, and it sees the potential in the future. I am grateful for these blessings.

Kathryn from Minnesota

I will be mailing Kathryn the Traffic Stampede course as a prize.

Although the contest is over, it’s not too late to post your comment of thankfulness. I know I will return to this page for inspiration when I’m feeling discouraged. You might want to bookmark it and do the same.

Have a great day and a happy Thanksgiving!

    Eric:

I’m 73 and a veteran but I don’t need any prize for being thankful. I believe everyone born in this country has received the greatest prize available to man – the right to make the most of him or herself. I just want say that I am thankful for living in this great country and having the greatest opportunities that could be available anywhere.

    Hello Eric,

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with us. Most especially for this gracious gift you’ve given.

This Thanksgiving, I’m grateful that despite the things that are going wrong, there are still so many things that are going right.

I’m grateful for people who see and act these good things, and inspire and encourage others and thus make a difference in our world.

Also, I’m grateful for the fact that even though I’m living in Asia and this day is not a holiday, I can still share in the spirit of thanksgiving with those I may never meet except through the internet.

    Cheers everyone!

“All things bright and wonderful, all creatures great and small, the Lord God made them all…” I am thankful for the trees, the roses(hmmm nice smelling lovely coloured roses), etc, etc, but Love is the greatest of them all. Love heals, forgets, blind, moved mountains, dare to care. Even God can forgave us because of His love. Why do we have war?

Anyway, God’s love helps me through all life’s challenges when no one’s around because they have their own burdens too. Pass on your burdens to Him. He is omnipresent.
The joy of reaching out, serving, caring for others/environment all emanated from love.

I am grateful for the opportunity I have each day to make the world a better place by how I live my life.

Often I forget this. Often I’ve made bad choices. Each day I wake up is another opportunity to get it right. What could be better?

Now when people ask (most just say) how am I doing, I’ve learn to respond with, “I’m Blessed and Grateful.” This sounds like to most people that I’ve just hit the lottery and that I am better off than the less fortunate ones, but the truth is that I continue to learn everyday to just Be thankful for what I already have and to Be grateful for what already is.

    Walk With Peace.

    Happy Thanksgiving Everyone.

I am Thankful for what can never be replaced. I am not a material person because they can be replaced but Family and Friends can’t be replaced. I am Thankful for my Lord and Saviour. Without Him, I would have nothing. Each day I thank Him. I live one day at a time for you never know what tomorrow will be. The past is gone so I don’t look behind. Live each day and be Thankful.

I’m thankful that I’ve finally learned that change happens so I waste less time trying to change it back and more time focused in the reality of the present in order to create a great future. I’m thankful I’ve finally learned to ask for help when I need it and have received the generosity of others from friends to passing strangers. I’m thankful that I’ve been given so many opportunities to be someone elses “hand along the way.”

To be honest, I really want to thank God for knowing and subscribing to this blog. You know what Eric, I’ve been looking around the net if there are Christian internet marketers. I mean someone who really has the heart to help others aside from making money on the net.

Then I found your site. This is a great blog. And I believe you are really doing good in your internet marketing career.

I am a Filipino (from the Philippines) pastor who have been self-studying about internet marketing. I have been applying some things that you have said here in this blog. And it is really working. Though I must admit that I am not really concentrated in my work since I am really working as a minister and my site is more like a religious site.

Perhaps one time, I will also feature you as one of the ministers who have been using this internet in reaching more people for Christ.

This is what I am thanking.

I am thankful for having been born in the Western world, where women at least have a chance to do what their hearts tell them to. Maybe I should also say I am thankful that this economic crisis has made people sit up and take notice that things do not always have to be rosy to be thankful. I think many people will find strength they didn’t know they had.

    Hey Eric,

I am truly blessed and thankful for a great life. Sure, since I’m a little older, I have a few aches and pains. But that is overshadowed by the abundance in my life. I have a wife (mean red-head!) who is not only my best friend, but loves me unconditionally. Sometimes that’s quite a challenge. I have a job that I look forward to going to every day. They pay me more than I’m worth and seem to appreciate my efforts. I choose not to have a lot of friends, but the ones I have are truly friends. I occasionally make a couple of bucks on the internet from people who don’t know me but trust that I will treat them fairly. Yeah, I know it sounds a little sappy, but I appreciate the enormous amount of advice I get on the internet from people like you. I guess I have a lot to be thankful, wouldn’t you say?

    Thanks Eric
I came in contact on telephone, with a girl of remote area of Balochistan, Pakistan, in July 2003, when she was only fifteen and studying in class IX(Jounior “A”Level). She was sexually abused in minor age, her parents and relatives were going to kill her, and she had decided for suicide. I gave her courage to face parents and relatives boldley, and stand to help the other victims too. She completed her college eduction(“O”Level), and now has opened a clinic in September 2008, after getting certificate of “Mid Wifery”. I helped her out morally, financially and in evry difficulty faced on this path. The important thing to tell here is that we have not met physically yet, and I do’nt want in future too, she has not seen even my pictutre nor I have.
My heart is filled with great pleasure, as a girl planning to die, has proved that she can face any challenge of life, and is encouraging other victims for the same.

I am thankful for all the people who are willing to be UNCONDITIONALLY free from their bad (negative) feelings about what’s happening in their life–including what’s happening in their body, in their mind, in their emotions, in their finances, in their jobs or businesses, in their relationships, in their communities, and in their world.

Anyone who is willing to stop complaining and feeling bad about life without asking that something else must change first–i.e without putting any conditions on their freedom from such negative emotions–is someone who is taking full responsibility for the way they feel, no matter what is going on, and from my experiennce, such people add a bright sunshine to the world and make life so much easier for the rest of us. They are the greatest gift to the world and I am thankful for that gift.

This thanksgiving has been an exceptionally hard one but one in which we have been very thankful. My oldest daughter is a loan originator and her family has been hit very hard by the housing market. They may lose their home.

My youngest daughter is bipolar and has gotten divorced, moved to Lousianna and now back to Kentucky. My son lost his job as well.

The long and the short of it all is that there has had to be a lot of maneuvering in getting everyone moved. My son-in-law has finally gotten a job, my oldest daughter is here getting a few loans through and my youngest daughter is back on her meds, got a job and doing fairly well and my son has a promise of a job as well.

The Lord has allowed us to be there to help and He has been there with us all the way. We are truly thankful that all are safe and home.

Great share Scott. I also like the story on your website home page a lot. Isn’t that the story of life! We “invest” (or should I say waste) more and more time, money, energy and our whole life trying out more and more “solutions”. At any moment, we feel justified that we need to now resolve the most recent problem at hand (which usually results from the previous “solution”), hoping that by getting rid of what seems to be the cause of the current problem, we will get rid of that problem which we believe to be the cause of the previous problem, etc, etc., with the hope that the INITIAL problem that started this madness will disappear as a result of some kind of domino effect (cause and effect, right?).

Our limited awareness at each step leads us to believe that we need to solve the most recent problem first, before we can solve the original problem–the one that we REALLY want to get rid of (the swallowed fly)–and so we spend our life doing that, never getting rid of that initial problem but still hoping that we will, and doing more and more stupid things until we die of overwhelm and despair.

The old lady who swallowed a fly is like each one of us who chose to feel bad one day. Let’s say we chose to feel “I am a nothing” or “I am not good enough”, which of course didn’t feel very good, so now we had a problem, a BIG problem indeed. This problem remained over the years, and when we finally couldn’t stand it anymore, we took the advice of the first salesperson (or online sales letter) to come along, who showed us with a seemingly-flawless logic that our bad feeling would be a story of the past…as soon as we buy their solution.

Let’s say the solution was to buy that $50,000 fancy car…and maybe a fancy house, too, and other stuff to show off to family, friends competitors and associates…all in the hope to get rid of that plaguing inferiority feeling.
Of course, we couldn’t really afford it so we used our good friends the credit card and loans. But now we had to pay off those debts, so we decided to get a job (don’t mind that we hated it, as long as it pays the bills, right?).

Eventually that hate of the job and the boss caught on, and angrily we said ‘bie bie boss’, and decided to get into business in order to break free from that freedom-busting J.O.B…and we all know what headaches that brought, right? (obvious headaches for most of us who are even broker now, but true even for those who “succeeded” in business–ask any financially-free person, and you’ll quickly discover that they, too, still have big issues.

And I bet that the initial “inferiority” complex, the “I am not good enough” feeling is still there, cntinuing to drive the madness in our lives.

Is there a simple solution, you may ask? There is, and it takes no time, no money, no energy and leaves you with a whole new life. Just get rid of that negative feeling directly, by choosing to stop entertaining it, instead of continuing to bring in all this heavy artillery that’s really killing you–and make sure you do so before you die like the lady who swallowed the fly.

    Happy Holidays Eric,

There’s so much to be thankful for. I am thankful for my life, my family, health and for a relationship with Jesus Christ.

I am thankful that to be able to spend thanksgiving with my family. Last year my husband and I were not together so our family was not all together in one place. This year we are back together and our marriage is doing much better. That is a blessing to us and our children.

I am thankful that all 3 of my daughters are healthy and doing well.

I am thankful that my uncle who had a heart attack and triple bypass surgery last December is alive, well and better than ever.

I am thankful that in 2008 I, my children and especially the elderly members of my family who endured so much during their lives were alive to witness the election of the first Black president of the US.

I’ll stop there but I have much more to be thankful for.

I am thankful for being alive… I should be dead.

A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE IS A DANGEROUS THING.

At the age of 14 I was fascinated with chemistry and chemical reactions, my friend and I used to spend hours in his fathers workshop mixing various chemicals together just to see what reaction we could achieve.

The effects that went BOOM were the most exiting to us, and only encouraged us to become even more adventurous.

We read so much about explosive reactions we thought we were experts… in the end we were mixing stuff that we could hardly pronounce.

Then one cold and frosty morning the inevitable happened… all it took was just one small slip and BOOM, the effect was enormous… powerful enough to flatten the walls of the workshop and send the roof into a neighbours rear yard.

Considering the enormity of the explosion, we are both thankful to have only suffered concussion and the loss of a couple of fingers.

Lately that memory has got me thinking about the huge amount of misleading, confusing and darn-right dangerous Internet Marketing information products out there. Dangerous in as much as it can cause Analysis Paralysis through information overload.

Trying to sort out the chaff from the wheat to find that missing puzzle can be a huge time sucking, confidence destroying journey that is likely to end in crushing your dream of building an online business running on auto-pilot 24/7 providing an income even while you sleep.

THE ANTIDOTE… unsubscribe to all distractions… follow just one mentor to gain the right knowledge base… take action and carefully complete the tasks… put all the components in the correct sequence.

Do this… gain the right knowledge and things will not BLOW UP on you.

Trust me… it cost me two fingers to learn MY lesson.

Yes, it is true what they say… A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE REALLY IS A DANGEROUS THING.

I am just truly thankful to have survived MY lack of knowledge… with enough fingers intact to be able to write this post.

    Good luck and God bless,
    Glenn Hughes.

On November 4th, 2008, Barack Husain Obama won a landslide electoral victory to become the 44th president of the most powerful nation on earth. Since then, and in all his speech, he had been very thankful to a nation that made him what he is; a nation of oppotunities; a nation where the poor can aspire and do indeed become rich; a nation where dreams come to fulfilment. For Obama, he would remain eternally grateful to the American people, founders, spirits and ideals. To me, his thanfulness is the greatest in this passing year.

I am thankful for the beautiful family I was born into. I am thankful to the friends I have met along this path of life. But, most of all I am greatful for the family and friends who introduced me to JESUS CHRIST. For without him none of this would be possible. I have a beautiful daughter and son who are both believers in CHRIST, I have been blessed with a job that can support my family. But, most of all I am so thankful that Christ came upon this earth and died for my sins so I could have everlasting life. For those of you who are reading this who are nonbelievers my wish would be that you would come to know JESUS CHRIST and be blessed in the same way I have. Eric,

Let me begin by wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

You ask what I’m thankful for. A few days ago my neighbor returned from Iraq (his second tour). I’m thankful for all the young men and women that return alive and healthy from a war we should never have gotten into. I’m thankful that I lived long enough to see a person of color elected President of this great nation of ours. I’m thankful that you and I can celebrate the holidays in peace and without fear of our homes being destroyed by miss guided missels. I’m thankful for every breath I take (I’m a Vietnam War combat vet). I’m thankful everytime my grandchildren run into the room and interupt me. But most of all I’m thankful for having been born in a nation where a man’s worth (or woman’s) is measured by what he/she can contribute and not by the color of his/her skin or by the name of his/her God.

God Bless you Eric, God Bless your readers, and God Bless America.

Hi Eric,I am fine and hope you are ok too.First of all I would like to say thanks for all that you have helped us with on the internet who are near and far away. I am from the tiny Island of Jamaica W.I. and really look forward each time in receiving your mails.I think what we should really be giving thanks for is thanking God first of all for spearing our lives to reach this far, although many are sick and in the hospital whom are still alive but they have another chance to talk to God asking him for his devine intervention. We who are here without sickness or ailments should assist in helping the needy in any way possible, just as how you have given us your help especially this free ebook to make this world a better place I think this should sum up Thanks giving.Thank you Eric

I am thankful and blessed that I am alive along with my loved ones and we are able to see another beautiful day.

Thank you Eric for your helpful tips. As a recent victim of domestic violence, I am reading as much information as I can in hope of earning enough money to assist my situation.

I am certainly thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, my wife and 2 kids, my business, my country, and of course freedom that allows me to enjoy it all.

Thanks for the opportunity to share.

Charity is a good start, Thanksgiving as it imply`s “giving” or to “give”, No matter who you are or where you are just give a little thought for those who are a lot less fortunate than yourself, weather you give a lot or give a little, a little of something is better than a little of nothing..

    Thank you Eric,

    Gary.
